Muel
I rarely see a stock I would like to own, and that is definately one of them!I'd have it double disc with a nice set of Dob rims, but that's just me.
dave33
i can still see a few places to save grams, why a tryall? iv tryed cutting the inner wall out, makes its about 50 grams lighter and loads weaker, drilled dx 32 much better, lighter when drilled and stronger, and better brake

Jason222
The flex in that frame will eventually drive you crazy.
Alex Dark
Cheers for the comments chaps Max - I'm looking around for front tyres, just finding something lighter than the Tryall that isn't a hard compound seems tres difficult Im using a michelin dry xc atm...the kevlar folding one...weighs a silly amount and grips pretty well
AdamR28
Get the knife out - can shed nearly 100g from those tyres

UrbanLegend
Believe it or not I had to take a scalpel to the tyre anyway... Rubbed slightly on the frame under hard pedalling

Jason222
I, too, want to frame DOB now! Works of art!Naww....too much flex man. I like mine, but...the flex is crazy. I'd much rather a slightly heavier frame that has less flex.
Greetings
That's shockingly nice and light. But if you get a front Schwalbe Nobby Nic, you'll get it down to about 8.4kgs
ogre
drill the headset spacers/get carbon fibre ones.remove some of the seat tube? oval shape shouldnt affect the stiffness, round edges shouldn't crack.loose the braided hose on the disk.alloy+steel diskdrill some of the bash guarddrill the front rim, ideally so theres just dips in the alloy, not an actual hole could do shitloads of them + loose cheff all strengthremove paint from frame + forks + pedalsdrill the bit of steerer tube you can see through the stemdrill your booster. But my idea for the bike was to get it as light as possible, without having to use the power tools! (The exception being the rear rim).As far as flex goes, I have noticed it flexing more than say my old Control, but not so much so it's detremental to the ride. I am quite light myself so that might have something to do with it.

So much, that I took it apart last night and built my echo back up. I actually think the frame gets flexier the more you ride it? Try some drops over 3 feet, or larger gaps, and you'll REALLY feel some flex beneath you.
Luke Rainbird
This is Dan we're talking about. He might ride light, but he won't be sticking to kerbs any time soon
UrbanLegend
Lol I've done a few drops a shade over 3 feet on it To be honest I'm getting on fine with it, maybe coming from a background of riding old XC frames years ago for trials, the DOB just feels ok to me... The fact it weighs so little kind of counteracts the flex I think, it certainly hasn't affected my riding in a negative way at all!
craigjames
looks absolutely stunning! really really nice!hopefully they will bring out a enwer model that is a smidge heavier but with re-enforcements to remove the majority of the flex, might look at getting one as my next frame.my bike needs to go on a serious diet, took the rear wheel out to find that it feels heavier than my wheel in the DH bike.... eskimo
Been thinking how it could possibly be lighter, without getting silly with weak parts... I don't like front freewheels, and to be fair when I worked everything out, the difference in weight was tiny (I saved a fair bit changing to Ti bolts on the King!). Also front disc to a V possibly... But not for me.Any ideas post them up!Oh, you haven't tried my front brake Can't wait to have a go (if your let me)Without modification on parts i can't think of much other than the Alloy Nipples mentioned. That's almost 50 grams saved. And try a KMC 510HX chain. Slightly less strength than the Kool but with a bit of weight saving though.
