Alex Dark
take the whole thign apart...clean all the grease off the pawls etc, then stretch the springs ...put it all back together and oil it up with 3 in one or similar,

Jolfa
Pull it to pieces, degrease it, then start saving for a new one for when you rip the ratchet to pieces
Skoze
PLONKER!Im with Mr Rob.I wouldn't advise fiddling with it, but with King's alot of us clean them up throughly, use the lightest oil possible between the rings (instead of proper "drivering greas" or whatever it is, and a few people stretch the spring. That said, a King hub is completely different to a Pro II.They're loud enough as it is, leave it be
Muel
I'd clean the grease out and use some lube type stuff.

2sixstreet
they probably would exchange the shells if you broke it - but why the f**k do you want it louder ?!!!I'm with Rowan. If you know how to make it quieter let me know. I want to attract the least attention - especially when we were riding out past Lawrence Hill the other day
chris H
Its personal taiste some of us love loud but some love nice and quiet!Well thanks for all the words so far
The Duck
Hope will charge you about £35 for a new hub shell.Don't bother, quieter hubs give the illusion of being smoother (to me they do anyway).
Gavyn.
just de-grease it. then you can run the finest lub you can find through it. you don't need much though.
cai
If it's not skipping, don't mess with it. I find trials components very tempermental at times
Muel
If it's not skipping, don't mess with it. I find trials components very tempermental at times Sorry mate, but that's bad advice. Maintenance should happen regardless of whether something is broken. My tensile wasn't skipping, but it was full of this black paste that was making a nice grating sound in my bearings. it's running much better now, just a bit of WD40 in there now. Gavyn.
muel, you do know that using Wd-40 on a freewheel will cause it to skip right?
chris H
wd4o isnt going to do your bike any justice I would say it makes it worse you want to use bike greece
Andeee
Rumours have it if you take the freehub off. and stick some grease in it makes it way louder...... The 07/08 hubs have different springs and pawls in them compared to my 06.
Alex@Flawless Bikes
If you take all the grease out of everything it will make it louder and will kill it much faster
Muel
muel, you do know that using Wd-40 on a freewheel will cause it to skip right?I know that it stopped it skipping. Why would it make it skip? I can't think of any reason why it would skip more, the pawls return faster, so they engage better. It had started to skip every week/ride, so I stripped it, cleaned it, WD40'd it and it has not skipped since. Maybe someone, once upon a time came up with that, but I prefer to test things for myself. In my opinoin, I was right, it hasn't skipped in over a month, and my god it's loud.Win. cox.
simple, take everything apart give it a GOOD clean leave to dry then put in on (no grease on it) sorted.
Skoze
simple, take everything apart give it a GOOD clean leave to dry then put in on (no grease on it) sorted. Anything with loads of moving parts needs a bit of lubrication! Running a hub dry = Waste of £
yoyoyo
You could buy a new one which uses oil instead of grease which makes it louder.

The 07/08 hubs have different springs and pawls in them compared to my 06.That statement is completely false. The only difference between the two is the shell. The newer models have an extra flange on the drive side to increase strength.Other than that, all the internals are the same.Another PLONKER! (Wham!)
