Barbra
Basically, i've got a spare monitor here doing naff all, so i'd like to rig it up so i can have duel screeny's. Only i've not got a clue on how to do this at all. I have got a 6800gt Graphics Card, as i'm guessing alot will rely on the graphics card if i'm running two monitors. I just want to know what i'll need, and how to do it (if its not a straight forward plug in, install drivers and your off deal)Thanks.Ohhh and is it pricey to do? Revolver
generally, if your gcard has two slots, plug the othr monitor in the second one and it will work imediately.Sometimes the second slot is a DVI one, which needs a different type of plug or a converter. When i say it works instantly, its because the drivers on the computer are already set to take two monitors.Saying that, you might want to check your display settings to see if it has a '2' in a second, greyed out box - this lets you tune the second monitor, and if its there, all systems go i suppose. Barbra
Ahhh..I'll have a look now EDIT: Ahhh yes, it has another slot on my Graphics Card, only its longer. So i'm guessing thats the 'DVI slot' you were talking about? How much is a converter going to cost me? Where can i get one from? Cheers. James Quigley
Does your graphics card have 2 inputs on the back (most likely your going to have a vga and a DVI input)If you do have 2, which I think the 6800gt might, it will just be a case of getting a dvi - vga adapter (assuming you other moniter doesn't take a dvi cable)Edit: beaten to it Edited April 8, 2008 by James Quigley
Tomm
It'll work fine, just plug it in. Your 6800 will probably have one VGA port and one DVI port on the back, right? If you need two x VGA, then you'll need to find a DVI > VGA adapter for the second monitor (so you can plug it into the DVI port). Or, if one of the monitors supports DVI, get a DVI cable for that one.How much is a converter going to cost me? Where can i get one from?Next to f**k all. You should have got one with the graphics card. I did with mine.

I'll hook you up with a link for one in a sec.DVI to VGA donglemind you, its 10 quid. this, a cable for the same job, is cheaper at £

Will report back on how well its working in a bit!its good, good for doing two stuff at once, but if you play games, make sure they have a window mode, else it will be a bit buggy switching between programs on monitors.Another thing! If you ever bought a looc'd tiv (lcd tv) for your room, you can use that to play movies off your comp as well as dvds, etc.

Muel
get some tonk, long-ass cable alternatively, move the comp closer heheSurely it can be done with wifi these days? Someone will do a kit.
Tomm
Surely it can be done with wifi these days? Someone will do a kit.Doubt it. You can't even stream a 720i compressed video over wifi, it's not quick enough. Let alone a full, uncompressed 1080 signal.
Barbra
Right, now i've got it. Do i have to turn my pc off to do it? I only ask cos i've had a download on for about an hour now, and its on 85%. So i don't want to turn my pc off really lol.
