Mark W
Are you disassembling it at all? If not, you should! If you are, maybe try and compact it down a bit more?
The Duck
Put wheels in 1 package, everything else in another and use parcel force. Won't me more than about £30.
liam-pantera
i was gonna remove the front wheel and bars .
psycholist
Try asking at your local post office. I think Royal mail have a parcel delivery service too and it's pretty competitive. The other option is to try haggling...Ask your local bike shop what courier they use for stuff too - if you know them well they might be able to piggyback your parcel on one of their orders or at their discounted rate... Mark W
If you take the forks and back wheel off too, you can lay them alongside the frame and you can make bikes become pretty small. Sack off the bike box idea, they're always big anyway, so that's probably part of the problem you've got...
Muel
I think my Dad used someone like intercity link? I'll check what the name is later.Anyway, £20, and they took it from here, 15 miles south of Manchester, to the Highlands within 20 hours of us paying.EDIT: My dad went to the LBS and got a few normal bike boxes, it fitted in easily, it was designed for a mountain bike. cai
The majority of the time it's only based on weight. Is this a particularly heavy bike? Such as the T-bone
Muel
We can't remember the name. Just use Parcel Force matey.
The Duck
Yeah as said, no way do you need a bike box. I've had the best part of 3 bikes sent from the other side of the world in a box that was sort of thin coffin sized.
liam-pantera
its all sorted now i just had to cut the box down abit because it was over the geometric weight limit ( height x length x width devided by 6000 )which was 30 kg but its all ready to be shipped tomoz thanks for the advice guys . Couriers cost more and drive to where you live direct and are more personal - ie safer. But carriers take the parcel and take it to a depot where its then distributed by another driver, which costs less. But I might have that the wrong way round. Caleb
yeah parcel2go is the easiest courier service to use imo, ive sent a full bike from as little as £8.50 with them using discount codes and theyve always been fine, i must of sent at least 50 + bikes/frames with them in my time too
