giantwhore
Considering changing to a stock DOB and wanted to see if anyone has any contructive feedback on how the frames ride and the whole flex issue.TaChris
David Biddle™
Are you thinking of getting the 07 or 08 The 07 is very nice there isnt really alot of flex. They ride really well, the frames a little short and the reverse magura mounts are a pain but the 08 frames are really good nice longish and low, a little more flex in the brake area than the other one but a 2bolt or 4 bolt booster will sort that out 07 frame feels very streety like a short levelboss The 08 reminds me of a cross between the GU LE and Czar and feels a little more comp/light street I have had both frames and the 08 wins other the 07 worth the £230/£153 (Zhi chris)Biddle Edited April 7, 2008 by Biddle
N.Wood
My '08 rides really well, the back end is pretty flexy so a booster is needed, but other than that the flex isn't overly noticeable.I find it to be amazing on natural where the very low weight means you can throw it about wherever you want it, its also very stable.Mine is for sale as a full bike as it happens, would rather stick to my Czar than get shit on 2 bikes. I was gonna go with an echo 130x15So you can't notice the flex apart from in the brake? Edited April 7, 2008 by giantwhore
Jason222
I've got the orange 08 26" dob and love it to death. It does flex a lot in the rear end, I've got the lighter echo 4 bolt booster, and it does the job, but there's also downward flex in the frame that you really feel when doing drops. Riding this bike has made me a much better rider. I came from riding an echo control short. All the things that the echo needed improvement on are offered in the dob I think...way better rear wheel stability, ups are so much easier because of the weight, slightly longer, lower frame, and it spins like crazy! I'm extremely happy with mine. I highly recommend them...Not sure about the rims yet. They're relatively sturdy, the rear might fall out of true by about 3 mm once every two rides, but it's easy to fix...I'm not fond of the grind though, dulls off quick. I'm running a mediumish grind with tar, and it works well. Haven't had any problems with the front dob rim yet, still 100% true, no dents, spokes are still tight...good front rim Oh, and they build a sickly light bike! lol I've been filming the last few days, so I might put some clips together of riding the dob I run a ZHI 120*20 stem on mine and it fits well, an echo 130*15 would work as well, but the front end might feel a bit low. maxwellduryea
thats scary. wait until the frame snaps in half, and your DOB emits showers of sparks...hahaha.is it flex like titanium or is there more flex than that?

UrbanLegend
Sorry I didn't reply to your PM Chris, been busy as of late!Anyway, loving the frame to be fair. You'll get on with one a treat I reckon. The flex really isn't that bad, I'm running a Trialtech booster and it does the job fine. It's flexier than a Deng frame but you aren't a heavy slugger so you'll be fine I'll get some pics of mine soon, it's going for a weigh in this week, and just by comparing my spec with some of the others on here I know it will be absolutely ridiculous! Dan ko will also no exactly what happened (think he got it from trials-uk )it cracked allready after 4-5 days by the bb..then my maggie broke, so i put on a rear disc rode three times with dual disc then the disc mount just snapped. When i took of all the parts i found another crack in the Cs..so it would snapped even if i never had used reardisc..Really nice riding bikes though..Recommend them for comps and really smooth riders!
