Muel
Do you really find that a problem? In about 4 years of using rear Mag I've only got arm pump once, and that was in a comp when my front brake failed and I had to rely entirely on my rear brake (not easy!). Have you ever tried indoor climbing or bouldering? The arm and finger strength you need is way higher, its makes riding feel easy on the arms when compared. Maybe you just need to build some strength up rather than blaming the brake?Yes I have always had a problem with it, and I ran a maggy for 6 months. It was on an oil bleed though, but I have just water bled my brothers and I get the same! Even though the lever is much lighter than a standard bleed.Maybe it will get better when I get the booster fitted, when the pads hit the rim, the lever moves another 15mm closer to the bar. This means I have to fully extend my finger to let the brake off.EDIT: I also used to do a lot of climbing in my yoof. Alex Dark
a really well set up 04 magura, with heatsink reds, a harsh grind, water bleed and a booster if needed will own most brakes....the only thing i will say is that obviously having a brake that has cables instead if fluid is far easier to replacevees are so oldskool ...... Maybe you just need to build some strength up rather than blaming the brake?I've tried Ali's V brake 2 or 3 times over the past year or so, and I always thought it had no bite Arm pump affects some really badly and others dont get affected at all, personally ive only had it when riding comps from my brakeing slipping and being rubbish. And i think everyone will agree that if you brake is lighter in how it feels when you pull the lever in then aslong as the brake holds as good it willl help stop arm pump. And ali gets affected by arm pump badly and in his 6 or 7 years of riding a vee brake is the only thing to have stopped it.It is a fact really that vees dont have as much bite but as ali will tell you and as i think myself bite isnt what is important hold is and vees have bags of it. Bite won't stop your brake slipping when your in a comp and dont make a move perfect but hold will.
Bionic Balls
as above...i love the hold on my vee...but it's really taken getting used to when taking off on a downslope! EG: on a rock...facing downhill, getting it up onto backwheel can be a bit scary with the lack of bite still...love it...and its so quiet
