maxwellduryea
Does anyone know what exactly Hope changed between the regular Mono Mini and the trials mono?Is it just the pad/disc/braided hoses or is there more?I emailed Hope, and havent heard back from them in two weeks:(
Matthew62
Larger piston, creates an increase in power that is more suited to the nature of trials riding......so there we have it, big ass piston.
Muel
The mechanical advantage is greater, giving a more grabby/holdy/powerful brake.
forteh
^^^ What they said, the larger piston gives a slightly spongier brake but with more bite and hold
maxwellduryea
but they didnt change the caliper, the pads, the disc, or the lever?
forteh
but they didnt change the caliper, the pads, the disc, or the lever?Levers the same but the caliper has larger pistons, its only a matter of a couple of mm but its enough to make the difference
Matthew62
Well obviouslly the caliper is different as it houses a bigger set of pistons, therefore needing different brake pads. SO they've all changed. Lever doesn't need changing as we don't really need a trials specific level (same as the Magura level will do). The discs are always changing with hope brakes, i'm sure i remember something where they updated it (not sure if that was just for the mono trial) - but you can use a variety of discs on the brake to tialor it to your needs.Work and development with trials riders went on aswell to ensure the brake was up to the job....so yeah stuff has changed and afteral they produced a trials specific brake, they didnt just re-name the mono mini.
