Chain Problem

i seem to remember ageeessss ago there was another topic with the same problem as me, (which i couldn't find on the search sorry). anyway i think i remember a lot of people having problems with their chain slipping/skipping when they had just put a new surly cog on the back.

i have this problem, does it just need to to wear in a bit? or is it maybe not the cog at all and ive got it wrong?

thanks for any help anyway.

What's your chain tension like? If the chain is reasonably tight it can't slip. If you're getting clunking from the chain as you pedal, the chainline might be off, causing the teeth of the sprockets to catch on the side plates of the chain.

If the chain isn't wrapped around enough of the back sprocket it can sometimes lift right off the teeth under load. See if you can take another link out of the chain to shorten it up, so the derailleur is pushed right up towards the chainstay and the chain wraps around as much of the back sprocket as possible.

had problems with my khe chain too... seems that my tensioner wasn't keeping the chain tight enough

due to there being so many stiff links, best thing to try is maybe taking a link out if you can, if not lube up the chain

as much as you can to make it less stiff

if that fails try another chain, switched to my half link chain and had no problems...until it snapped
