moto85
a few months ago my dad went under a height restriction with my bike on the roof, it was totally wrecked!!!i took it to cycle world and they put a set of sapim spokes into the front and rear wheels. the front wheel has been fine due to the fact that it has a disc, but i have had real trouble with the rear wheel. i have already taken it back once after the nipple snapped horizontally( 5-6 weeks ago). the annoying thing is that is has just happened again!!!i do have the spokes tight due to the nature in which i ride, they have to be tight otherwise i end up constantly buckling the rear wheel.does anyone have any ideas about what i should do, or what spokes would be better than the ones that i have at the moment???thanks
steve@banbury-trials
i would say its the nature of the beast ,i snap spokes occasionally due to heavy landings like ,and im pretty sure other riders will agree.steve
Luke Rainbird
Generally, if you're snapping spokes either they're laced to tight or you're not riding smoothly enough. God knows what you're doing to snap nipples However, there will always be the odd occasion one might go, and for the sake of 50p it's not worth much hassle. Buy a new one and stick it in, job done. Marten@ScandinavianTrials
I'd say its more common to snap spokes because the tension is too low and/or uneven.I ride with DT Champion. Don't laugh. I've got my reasons... They make up for the stiffest wheels, period. And as I'm not really a weight weenie it doesn't matter that they're heavy. And yeah, material fatigue is less of a problem on a wheel that's built to take the abuse from bad landings than getting the wheel tacoed. But that's all just my opinion. I'm pretty much alone having it...
