Krisboats
If i was going to be brave, i'd say get the 400d BODY ONLY, then pick up a good quality walkabout lens as well. From what i hear theres a tamron lens in the region of 17-55 or 17-85 thats really good and cheap enough to be within your budget. The other option is to get the canon 50mm f1.8 mk2 for around £60, although this doesn't have zoom its better in low light and is really sharp. F-Stop Junkie
£400, and you're a noob? How's about the Canon G9?It's a compact camera, no extra lenses or flash to buy, but with manual modes you can learn with, and then decent resale prices if/when you want to upgrade to a full SLR. Tony Harrison
Chris is right. Canon G9. Get a DSLR, and before you know it you'll be spending twice that getting yourself sorted out.G9 is an excellent piece of kit.
Dr. Nick Riviera
Just to prove a point, G9.

Tony Harrison
Yes, but you have to be l33t to use a fixed-lens! That's why I bought the GX-100 instead!I still reckon G9 for this guy, or even a G7 and save some cash.
