eskimo
I got myself a new frame (again). This time second hand. But still ended up paying enough but it's worth it.Anyhow it's currently just raw with laquer. Looks a bit of a mess. I was thinking of having it sprayed or powder coated but not sure yet.How can i clean it up? What do i need to do to remove the laquer as i can't just polish straight over that can i I've searched and found some great topics but none for the laquer. So any tips would be great! If it is too much of a job i wouldn't mind paying for someone to do it. I really can't be bothered with spending a whole day polishing or spraying. So any offers from people would also be usefull. Thanks.
Ben John-Hynes
Going over it with a fine sandpaperor Caustic Soda or Nitromors should do it.Either way should do,then you're ready to paint!Ben
liam-pantera
just use some nitromorz , it will strip the laqure streight off but its realy easy to remove with just sand paper or caustic soda .

Matthew_Gibson
Nitromorse works for me on paint. But when I've painted my bikes. I just used fine wet and dry to key the metal or laquer. As long as you get all of it with primer it should be fine. Its all about the preperation. It you first sand it and key it, Few coats of primer, few layer of paint, Its not that important, but laquer or clear coat will make the paint look even nicer. But as its a trials bike. Shouldnt bother with clear coat TBO.
eskimo
So the best way should just be sand it down and then polish it up with some autosol?
Janson
bingo. remember, if you sand it you have to continously go to a higher grit paper; the smallest scratch will be visible once polished. prepare to spend ages for a nice finish.personally i'd nitromors the lacquer off and sand as little as possible; the shiny bits are already shiny and won't need much sanding. be lazy about it but still thorough. manuel
nitromores and something soft so you dont scratch it if you are wanting to polish it up ..... If you are powder coating then use whatever - I know a place in easton that will do whatever colour you want for 30 quid .... NVWOCI WVS
my echo pure was uber shiny when i finished cleaning it up... I nitromorsed it, cleaned the nitromors off with meths and fine wire wool then spent about 10 hours with two tubes of autosol and lots of clean rag... came up like chrome in the end!I'll find a pic in a minute... Muel
Laquer comes off really easily in my experience, some paint thinners, white spirit or petrol should do the job.
