trialsalot
Hey chaps,I've ordered an avid ultimate caliper for the front of my soon to be stock. The forks are echos with forward facing v mounts and i'll be running an xtr lever and cousts in cnc backings. Does anyone use this set up and tell me what its like and can anyone recommend a decent cable please. Thanks in advanceCraig
BenLeacock™
Oddesy liner cables are quite good... ive never used one on a vee, but im using one on a bb7. Yesterday ''basher'' was telling me that its the cable he would use for a vee aswell
cai
Clarkes cables are always good, and cheap at £4.I've had one on my old front vee and it was very smooth.
basher
oddesy linear slick cable is what you want. That set up should work mint, i should think it will be a fairly bitey set up. But i dont use front vee only rear so wouldnt no. If you want it to be uber stiff, look for a xtr or salsa booster
eskimo
I use SD5 Arms, CRVs, FR5 Lever and Odyssey Linear.Loads of bite, slightly less on smooth rim though. Hold is perfect but gaps to front tend to make the brake slip if you aren't leaning forward/ over enough. I keep thinking about using disk but there are too many downsides to a disk setup compared to vee. The only vee problem i find is modulation, there isn't any. I had an XTR lever, Avid ultimate arms, animal bikes kevlar linear slic cables (best ever cable...ever!) and crv pads on a medium sharp grind. best vee setup ever. Definitely go for the abikes cable!
