JD™
personally i would find a forum for the car you have, which obviously must remain secret, and have a look at what people on there have done and how. Without knowing which car it is it's very difficult to know what will go in it. Pretty much any engine will fit in any car with enough work and money. It's all about how far you want to go. Radfax
Pm and tell mr bumsong I would be more than happy to help! In all fairness, any engine conversion is possible as long as the engine fits in the engine bay, and when it doesnt, you cut the rear floor out of the car and oput the engine there, so any conversion is possible. But how much work do you want to put into a swap? how much money do you have to spend? If you have what i think you have i have the perfect idea glad you got one in the end mate! dan_addison
Dont know if this will help.Im assuming different models of this car would have had different size engines throughout the range? maybe that would give you a better idea.I bet it's a mini! Bucky
anything will fit with a certain amount of work try using an 'older' engine with less engine management to worry about wiring up.

Haz
It's a Dolly isn't it?I'm going to guess at something jap for an engine, but I just wouldnt know...And by that I mean a Triumph Dolomite, not a Citroen...Actually, looking around at cars which look like that I'm going to go with Lada 1600.And I'm going to go with a Honda vtec something or other, from an older Civic...I'm 97% certain I am owed at least one marsbar. Peperami
You paid money for that? And to answer original question, pretty much any engine will fit anything with a bit of work, its just a matter of fabricating mounts and sorting driveshafts, gearbox and loom. Looking at the state of it, might be better finding something with equivalent sized chassis and just mounting that shell to it. Although the shell would fall to bits as soon as you tried removing parts of it. erm... Edited March 27, 2008 by Peperami
Tomm
I actually think they look quite cool. One of my mates had one which he did some England to middle-of-nowhere Rally and he says it was the most fun car he ever had. Stupidly simple and rear wheel drive, perfect for ragging round deserts/Loughborough

Pashley26
I wager you could fit a short block V8 in that... Pretty easily. That engine bay is f**king HUGE ! But i'd go with a ford 2.8 v6 CARB engine and back axle. (out of a manual mk2 Granada Ghia X)

Need to keep whatever you do on the cheap though, most of your money should go into sorting out that damn rust!
Pashley26
I think a priority is getting it back to my house though and seeing if it is in repairable condition. It's f**ked mate But if you don't care about how the body looks then PLEASE drop a decent engine in it I think it'd be the bollocks as is but with a Rover in it. Joe Sheehan!
Right, with the engine conversion its going to be highly gay for a 3 main reasons:1. The cars not designed for a quick engine.2. The cars not designed for a quick engine.3. The cars not designed for a quick engine.number 1 refers to the fact that the wiring looms are going to be completely different and will need splicing together, this requires specialist work 90% of the time unless your handy at that sort of stuff. Number 2 refers to the chassis - youre probably going to need the subframe from the car the engine has come from or a custom subframe as the original chassis isnt designed for that sort of power. 3 refers to getting the power down, you will need the gearbox too which will probably require modifying the body/floorpan and also most v6s and v8s are rear wheel drive, and to be honest i dont think your going to be able to find the right length driveshaft to go down to the back wheels and whatever. If youve taken all this into account already, and are going ahead with it - i salute you Just my two pence... Joking aside, i was just summing up the facts of it and how much effort its gonna take.what i didnt say was HOW TOTALLY RAD IT WOULD BE! Which is; VERY.
