Tomm
Most people seem to set it up like Dave suggests. I personally can't stand that at all, feels horrible to me so I always run a bit of sweep (I.e. tilted back). Have a play, but I reckon if you can cope with the rise being 'vertical', then keep it that way.
cai
I prefur to tilt my bars slighty more forward than 'vertical' as it makes my bike feel a little longer, and I find makes it comfy-er on the back wheel(this is with low-rise echo bars, and try-all replicas) I'm not a fan of 'big riser' bars, neither am I to keen the 'flat' bars. Simpson
I run mine quite far forward.... my monty risers, but thats cos I'm 6 foot with a small bike! it just feels good! might try mixing it up soon though!
Echo-Scott
There seems to be an epidemic of riders down where I live that run there bars right forward, and I mean pretty much horizontal. All I can tell from riding ther bikes is that it makes the bike feel a fair bit longer(more reach) and the front end lower down.
Fixed Pantsâ„¢
With my Zoos tilted just a bit further back than vertical, it feels soo bmxy, can pull the front end up no problem and can spin a lot more, and after a day it'll feel the same way it did when they were very tilted forward. Tilted forward quite a bit is just a trialsy style, but i think being able to pull the front end up easily is a very good thing. Means i can bunny hop about 30 inches too (bmx style bunny hop) and also 180 in a bmxy way.The theory part is kinda just a length/height of bars fine tune maybe? But i don't see how it affects it that much... Edited March 23, 2008 by Fat Pantsâ„¢
Rusevelt
Well if you hold your arms out in a handlebar position and flex your wrists outwards clockwise, you'll see why most riders angle their bars at that forward position. Tomm
Well if you hold your arms out in a handlebar position and flex your wrists outwards clockwiseEr, wut?I think I know what you're trying to say, but the whole 'end of bars bending upwards' thing seems really unnatural to me. But just do what feels right.

Ali C
tilting the bars back will make poping the front end up easier EG bunnyhops and manuals. It will also help with moves like roll downs and generally make rolling about on both wheels feel better.Tilting the bars forwards makes it easier on the back wheel, but makes it sketchier on both wheels or doing front wheel moves and riding at speed.....generally it makes your bike like a pogo stick and crap for everything else.I pesonally run my bars a little back from vertical, nothing nuts but enough to make a difference.I did have my bars slightly forwards for a week or two, thought it was a bit weird but as soon as I put my bars back again my riding was a LOT better!Having the bars forwards makes you poke your elbows out, putting your body in a less efficiant position.
