Adrian J
Has anyone got any reviews on the dob rims? cheersajx
_Owen.
Lad i know brought one, bent, flatspotted and just generally destroyed it, and he really isnt a hard rider at all. from that experience i would not buy one ever! DOB stands for dent or bend! Owen
Alex-Mitchinson
Had a dob frame for 6 months, no dents or cracks.Got 2 dob rims, only ridden a few times but fine so far.
Bearded Midget
my mate had one before, front wasnt to bad, only a couple of dints in a week or so, back was demolished, f**k loads of dents
N.Wood
For lightweight/smooth/comp riders they're excellent. For bashers they're not so great, hence people have dented them.I'm definately going to look into a front one in the near future. The Duck
http://www.trials-forum.co.uk/forum/index....=110804&hl=And, just to add my own review...They're wank.Grind up badly, lasted 2 grinds before it flatspotted like there was no tomorrow, finish/look was dreadful.Biggest waste of just under £50 ever... Gandalf the Yellow
mine was fine.. and for the weight, im not complaining, purely because its lighter than my 28H front tryall singlewall rim which is STUPIDLY sh*t.and sorry Quackers, how does it look any uglier than any other trials-specific rim out there? steve
Shaun H
You Shaun stole borrowed that from me. Front ones are fine. Double wall rim for just under the weight of most single wall ally rims.Rear one I found just wasn't strong enough. The metal is just too soft, my spokes started pulling through and by the time it was properly dead about 5 spoke holes were badly cracked and ready to go. My first one collapsed due to me not maintaining it. My second which is 28h with a grind isn't straight but it's held up.

I've not managed to dent mine yet and it's taken at least 3 heavy hits on edges due to hooking the rear wheel on ups or just general crashing. Jason222
I've got 3 dob wheels. 2 rear and one front. They do seem to dent a bit easier, but they stay true quite well in my experience with them. Just run a bit more pressure and you'll be fine... My second which is 28h with a grind isn't straight but it's held up.yer thats what i don't like about them, they don't even make a good wheel build from the start which is annoying as i really prefer the feel of wider single wall rims..a decent built on my mavic xc717 which is fairly light and its pretty much perfectly straight for the year that i rode on it, never been tensioned just a regular check on the trueing stand, and even then it seemed fine.. basically all trials specific rims need to improve to a standard where a decent wheel build can be achieved. without sacrificing weight too much at the same time. if you think about how many years these trials specific rims are out for now they could have done enough research on making much better rims..steve

Gavyn.
I'm going to get a set once I've gone DD. they might be easy to dent and that but they're light so who cares.
Simpson
I'm going to get a set once I've gone DD. they might be easy to dent and that but they're light so who cares.Because its a waste of money? How much to rims weigh? f**k all reallyFor 35quid id far prefer an echo one knowing it would last a year, than sacrafise a bit of weight for strength... matty demolised both his, thats enough for me... ZHI_Chris
To be honest, the rims are strong enough for me. But I am sure they can't suit everyone. But use them at the front wheel is very good.I think both front rim (460g, 38mm) and rear rim (580g, 44mm) can be used in the front wheel. LauraPalmer
i use one in the front already - great - gives a stiffer wheel than any single wall rim. and next week my new rear wheel will be built(also with a dob rim): the possibility of spokes coming out scares me a bit... has anyone tried these little plates or lets say washers - i hope you know what i mean - under the nipple to avoid them coming out? i think i might give it a try... i mean i don´t bash around like in the early years of starting, but nevertheless i´m over 80 kg
