Andrex
I'm not to sure what is wrong with my hub, i think the free hub body has gone but am still not sure. There was a huge bang when i kicked to do a gap and there was no engagement, now it has turned in to a fixed hub, i can pedal backwards and forwards but it wont roll and when it does it makes a strange noise and jams up. Is it my free hub body?
Ash-Kennard
sounds like all the pawls have snapped
basher
Yeah sounds like something to do with the pawls and springs, shouldnt cost alot to fix if it is that. Pull your cassete body off and have alook inside.
Jolfa
Do Hope not still offer a lifetime warranty? I've mudered 3 Bulbs and an XC and got them all fixed for free in the past...?
N.Wood
Is it an '06? I guess theres no obvious massive crack in the hub?My '07 ratchet ring stripped recently, meaning it just spun inside the hubshell. There was no bang though. And Hope's warrenty is still amazing, i've sent both my cracked '06 and stripped '07 back and they've replaced them no problems. Andrex
yeah its an 07 hub, the cassette won't come off, it seems like its wedged in.
basher
Take the non driveside little end cap thing off and wack the axel that should work.it cant be a the rachet ring strippedbecause then it would just spin not stay locked like it is. ANd im guessing he would have noticed a big crack if it was the hubshell. So it can only be the internals. Conor the basher.
Yeah i wouldent have taught it was the hubshell tbf.... To get the internals out take out the bolts and put a rod or another bolt in the drive side bolt hole and it should wedge againt the axel give it a wack and the axel will drop out and the rest will follow
Andrex
Right i have found the problem, guess where it is on the picture?I'll guess I'll be sending it to hope after this long weekend
basher
You may be able to get away with just a new rachet. But im not sure you may have to get a whole new hubshell. Not sure where you will stand on warrenty either.
cai
Unluckey, can you get replacement rachets? Or are they part of the hubshell?
Andrex
On the hope website it says it is fixed to the hub shell.

Jimmy_c
The same thing happend to mine on wednesday night! I havnt had a look at mine yet to see whats up with it yet but i sure hope that the rachets havnt broke like yours! Ive had mine less then 6 months, surly the rachets are ment to last longer than that? (if mine are the rachets) could I get a new one from hope? whats the warranty like with hope?James Edited March 21, 2008 by Jimmy_c
Andrex
The warranty should be quite good im guessing. But I think they do replacements and services for a small fee or even free, but you would have to pay for postage. I've had my hub about 6 months and I have the receipt to prove it somewhere lol. N.Wood
The ratchet rings are screwed in. I managed to put so much force on it it stripped itself which is nice.If you just send it back to them with a note explaining whats happened, how old the hub is and your address, they should send a new one back to you.
