ok basically i am tired of snapping my mec hanger on my bike and paying out quiet a lot of cash just for a bit of metal.

I amjust wondering if anyone knows any way of not having a rear mec at all on vertical dropouts.

The problem being is most frames need the mech hanger to correctly locate the wheel.

You can use a 74 Kingz style chain tensioner, that wll sit between the frame and hub, You can use a Onza Mech saver, which will at least help strengthen your mech/hanger assembly.

There is also tensioners like the Gusset one that bolt across the Mech hanger and wheel bolt, making snapping the hanger almost imposible

Or you could try using nothing but a short chain, but the problem on vertical drop outs is the the chain will never really be the perfect tension, its either too tight or too loose, and can damage the cogs if its too tight,

You could do like my friend does and CNC his own hangers outta titanium.

Or use something like a rennin which bolts to the hanger and the frame.

The new echo hubs have the hanger on the axel itself so you can actually cut the hanger where it meets the frame and loose no strength their kool too.

Loads of options u just gotta get creative, i know a guy on OTN who made a tensioner outta a spoon and a saw blade.
