Tom Perkins
Hi we were out riding today and my mate gapped a small set of stairs. When he landed there was a big bang and his rim had snapped. I wondered if it had happened to anyone else in the same place as it seemed quite a strange place for it to snapped. I would also be interested to know how it happened if anyone has any ideas. Cheers.Pics: Edited March 15, 2008 by tom perkins
Sam F
You sure it was built properly? Seems a bit strange.. spokes must of been too tight.

Andeee
Did it snap around the full wheel? I suggest you get a try-all strong as foook. Deng rims just flex like cheese.
Adam-Griffin
Aren't the echo rims exactly the same as the Try-all rims besides the logo ?
Skoze
I suggest you get a try-all strong as foook. Deng rims just flex like cheese.Have i missed something? Aren't try-all's the rear rims of the anti-christ and the echo's cnc machined from granite?Confused.comI like my try-alls Adam - not sure about the 06' but the 07 weigh a ton in comparison. Alex Dark
thats what i thought...im sure echo are supposed to be far stronger than try-alls ( i run try-alls, so this isnt a biased view )
steve@banbury-trials
i've found the 24bicycles rim very strong for its weight , also hold grind fairly well too.clicky.steve
Muel
Aren't the echo rims exactly the same as the Try-all rims besides the logo ?Nope, holes are bigger in the Echo rim and the material is different.Echo 07 are much, much better apparantly. If the spokes were too tight, I doubt it would do that, it would just break the spokes quite often. basher
true thanks i forgot lol cant wait for the new ko rims to come out Just out of interest why are the 07 echos shit, they are a little heavy compared to a tryall but are stronger and at the moment they are one of the strongest rims out, am i missing something You cant come out with a coment like that they are shit when most of the trials comunity are disagreeing with that as they are so poular and then say i cant wait for the ko rims to come out indicating really that you think they are good. When youve not even seen a proto of one yet, and they arnt even a exact copy of an 05 echo they are designed from scratch and will just have the same cnc scoops that all.Nope, holes are bigger in the Echo rim and the material is different.Echo 07 are much, much better apparantly. If the spokes were too tight, I doubt it would do that, it would just break the spokes quite often.Nah its happen to a few now. think they did the holes to big. ITs opinion to which is better as echo are heavier but stronger, but koxx are lighter yet not quite as strong but still are pritty strong. Im suprised with how mine is. RossMcd
My 06 echo rim is close to doing that!most of the spokes are ripping through the rim and mine are hardly tight!

psycholist
Only wheel I've ever folded was an 06 Echo rim... I think that year was just a really bad year for them... There's a video around showing a couple of them getting folded around the edges people are landing on too - very weak indeed. No such issues with the BMF I replaced the echo rim with or the 07 rims on my current bike though...
