Whats the difference, charge is mongoose and mongoose is charge...

Its a non producion frame, so its highly unlikely that you'll be able to buy one in the forsee-able future.

mongoose was founded in the seventies in america and started with mag bmx wheels, charge was founded in the late nineties early 2000's and is based in radstock. how did you figure they were the same company?

yes they are both distributed by hot-wheels, but thats where the connection ends.

akkers does have a custom ti charge blender i think but i thought he was also riding an old 26" megamo resprayed??????

Mongoose very weirdly were also specifically named as the bad guys in the BMX film called 'Rad' from the '80s, with the evil team owner encouraging the team to take out other riders in possibly some of the worst shot bike racing sequences I've ever seen :). Only place I've ever seen a brand specifically named in this sort of context...

The 80s were a weird time ... I found the film on google video last year some time...

Hi was just wondering is the mongoose frame that Chris Akrigg actually for sale as i have never seen it?

If so, how much and where?

Cheers

billxxx

No chance you will get to buy it, but if they ever put it out on the market, expect to pay around £999, cause last I heard was that its Ti frame, and if you look at Charges website the Ti frames cost a bucket load...

he does now, but before he rode a megamo i think
Ash is right, its a non production steel megamo with mongoose stickers. you would have thought mongoose would have built akrigg a signature frame by now since he's been with them for over 2yrs. may need to do a search to see if you can find any surplus stock floating around the world somewhere...good luck though! kinda surprised that akrigg doesn't use his prototype Charge titanium rig and just put mongoose sticks on that. if he put that on sale, forum members would snap that up right away. Nick larsen is a very gd friend of mr akrigg. As he used to run pashleybicycles and gateeight clothing brand.

Nick larsen now does the bike make Chargebikes.

Nick gave chris a ti 24inch street bike to use, and also designed with the help of matt tongue a ti trials frame which you may hav seen awhile go posted on here.

But the design and lenght of the frame turned out wrong once it was made, so chris stopped riding it.

He managed to get hold of sum old megamo frames and has been riding them since, with mongoose stickers on. You can't really get hold of the megamo frames anymore, I bort my one awhile ago and i managed the other month to get hold of a new one as a spare if i ever needed it. But i am riding for Inspired bicycles now.

Off topic, but didn't that have Nicole Kidman in it?
Yeah and she really could ride a bmx though weather or not she performed all those tricks for real is questionable. the success of that film (not to mention bmx was massive sport back then) kinda helped launched her acting career.
