Ubuntu_user
Which helps me out more... strength or limberness??? (you know, flexibility. Like being able to touch your toes)
steve@banbury-trials
i would say strength ,just because i really unflexable but i can still ride ok (note:when i say ok ,i mean to a standard above a 4yr old).steve
monty221pr
Flexibility probs helps alittle like wen u tuck n stuff, but overall strength is better Most really good riders are beef,Technique is the most important thing to be honest.Sam. Ben John-Hynes
I think strength, the only situation in which you use limberness is tucking!Strength will enable you to go bigger!Ben
Ubuntu_user
Okay, thanks for all the feedback!
AdamR28
I would say flexibility. It's fairly simple mechanics - if you are more flexible, you can exert more power as the force you put in is over a longer distance (work done (power) = force x distance). I guess the equation puts the same emphasis on both strength (force) and flexibility (distance), but it's much faster, initially, to build flexibility.Just a few simple stretches a day makes a massive difference to your riding, whatever level you are at (if you aren't already a stretchy beast anyway!). gu trials
i would say limberness so you get more of a tuck when side hopping or back wheeling but a lot of strength helps to get your bike up whatever you are getting up rock etc... Endohopper
...Then spake Adam unto the multitude , saying :Behold : It is fairly simple mechanics - if thou art more flexible, ye can exert more power as the force thou puttest in is over a longer distance (work done (power) = force x distance). I guess the equation puts the same emphasis on both strength (force) and flexibility (distance), but it's much faster, initially, to build flexibility. Amen .And they among the New Members did fall silent in awe of this revelation . I've rarely seen a question so decisively answered , Adam . I guess one of the only variables could be technique - whereby a rider with poor technique is unable to effectively apply his / her flexibility , so must compensate by , as you English say " Givin' it some beans .
