BenLeacock™
ooo ive just read it again, you could just get a longer bolt ? Edited March 13, 2008 by BenLeacock
basher
Im guessing your a streety rider if you have a base? if so you want something with a high rise but shortish so it pulls up nice and doesnt feel to long. 40mm is alot so most stems should be ok, just get something thats has a highish rise as you cant run spacers.Best think to do is just search the interweb. Endohopper
If you mean your steerer tube has been cut too short , then there's not a whole lot you can do about it , unless you're currently running an unusually tall headset and replace it with a VERY slimline one . Don't trust any setup that leaves more than 7mm between top of steerer tube and stem top unless you have outstanding dental insurance . steve@banbury-trials
Don't trust any setup that leaves more than 7mm between top of steerer tube and stem top unless you have outstanding dental insurance .i have 10mm plus the headtube was longer than my previous frame so the steerer tube is a bit on the short side.steve

Luke Rainbird
40mm is about the same sort of height as a standard (as in, average size) stem clamp height, so chances are you'll be able to stick most stems on spacerless without any trouble
CRANK BRO
ok thanks they all seem to be 50mm stems on ebay
JonMack
The steerer on my Megamo forks is so short that only one of the bolts bolts directly over the steerer tube, although when you tighten up the top one it does help quite a bit. To put my mind at ease I bought a headlock from ebay which seems to do the trick, so maybe you could consider that?
cwbashaw
Thompson stems have a 40mm stack height Hope has a 42mm I would go with either one of these. Thompson has more sizes to choose from. Edited March 14, 2008 by cwbashaw

Ooh dear, this numerical text talk rubbish will never do. I don't see what a Norse giant has to do with anything either, unless he left with your stem.
