Ubuntu_user
I'm going to be getting a new bike here in a while in place of my modified MTB... I know for sure I want to go single speed, but what is the most popular gear ratio??? I'm going to run the freewheel on the front (18t), so basically do I want 12t, or 15t in the back? I'm going to go with one of those snazzy echo rear hubs and then just buy one of the echo splined rear gears...Give me your thoughts!!! steve@banbury-trials
the most popular gear choices for stock are 18:15 or 18:16 ,i personally would reccomend the 18:16 gear ratio to start of on as it should help with your riding more as the drivetrain will be slightly more responsive.steve
Ubuntu_user
Okay, yes I definitely want the most responsiveness I can get... the only thing, is it a pain having that low of gear? or is there very much difference?
steve@banbury-trials
i personally dont mind having a light gear, but for others its a pain in the ass.it all depends how fast and how far you want to travel on your trials bike.steve

Revolver
deja vúi've got 18-13 i thinki'd rather have 12it's a mod though, so you have to compensate for wheel sizei think 18-15 is fairly standard for stocks
cai
I'm going to go with one of those snazzy echo rear hubs and then just buy one of the echo splined rear gears...One comes for free on the hub, just ask for 15/16 (your choice).Since you already ride 15t should be no problem , 16t is better for when you first start and have tiny legs.
