Choice Of Shoes...

It's really a matter of personal prefference , and shoe " fold " needn't be a bad thing , certainly prefferable to an overly stiff sole . Whether you prefer platform or caged pedals as long your shoes offer plenty of grip and a bit of feedback feel , the only other consideration is a decent design / colour .

You could get all geeky and weigh 'em for that ultra competitive edge . Many riders including myself prefer skate type shoes - Vans in my case , and with regards to trials specific shoes Tartybikes offer a good selection .

Well my shoes are next to junk... they are FAR to flexible! I can hold one of the shoes in my hand and get the toe of the shoe to touch the heel! The rubber is just like a bone that has been in Coca Cola for the past week!!!

What do you mean "feedback feel?"

Yeah, I would tend to go skate type but I absolutely hate the real puffy padded look with laces that go straight across and are wild colors!!!! Ugh!

Lace them cross and buy single colour ones then :D

Not all skate shoes have the 'padded' look, etnies lo-cuts for example.

In my experience etnies, duffs and emerica are very hard wearing and a pair will last me years :)

Vans shoes lat for ever but arnt the most stylish id say. Etnies dont last as long but look trick.Just all depends what you like skate shoes are skate shoes really no real difference between them just looks really

Have to dissagree Im afraid, in my experience: -

Etnies and Duffs are very, very durable and comfy.

DC, vans and airwalk have all fallen apart for me before the above did.

Also had a pair of emericas that lasted forever :)

I know this doesnt help you but TK maxx often has etnies and duffs in for 30 quid a pair - bargain shoes! :D

My Duff's fell apart within a month, and everytime it rained they dyed my feet blue! - no joke, my feet didn't go back to normal for well over a week :giggle:.

My quicksilvers are pretty awsome (had them since the summer, still very comfy and the tread still has barely worn), I would highly recommend them if I knew there model name

I use the trident shoes.

The good:

The grip is very good

They are comfortable.

The soles are hard enough that they don't wear out too fast.

The bad:

They're ugly

They are hard to put on and take off. (I cut the neoprene down the front because to fix this)

They smell worse than any shoe i have ever tried.

Most skate trainers are good as they have platform sole. Usually the more flexable ones are better. Tkmax is good as they do cheap good make skate trainers.

If you want to go all out get the ribos sv1's i think it is from tarty. They are about 80quid and where teated and designed by tartys for ribo.
