BONGO
Right, i''ve asked a couple of people and had no answer really. I'd ideally like this to be answered by someone who KNOW'S the answer, and has been through the situation or knows someone who definately has. I'm not really after 14 year old helpful people, because their posts add up to about no help. (no disrespect)OK, Insurance due 31/03/08.... i'm 25 on 22/04/08, i can without any problem wait until then to get insured, as i have a bike and work van. Would i get a cheaper premium by waiting that month and being 25 on the date of the insurance beginning??It's a question i've not been able to google to get an answer. I know being 25 helps, but when it's so close, would it be worth waiting or not...
Al_Fel
I'd say it was worth waiting. A lot of insurance fine prints say you have to be 25 or over. Things like if you are fully comp you can drive any other car thrid party etc. It really does make a big difference from what i've heard with mates/family and stuff.By the way you are an old b*****d. AdamR28
I have heard it makes a big difference... maybe just bash some details in on confused.com, one with your current age and another 'lying' about being a year older. I think thats the only way to say for definite as the exact amount difference will depend on quite a few factors?
trials_pimp
Yes 25 is one of the "lower premium" ages
OD404
In my experience yes it will make a lot of difference. In my case when I come to renew my policy on the rx7 I will save over £500 from last year with being 25 and having the extra years no claims. I would do as Ads says and put some details into one of the many comparisson sites. And if you can wait the month, do it.It certainly shouldn't be more expensive. Fish-Finger-er
Insurance due 31/03/08.... i'm 25 on 22/04/08, i can without any problem wait until then to get insured, as i have a bike and work van. I know being 25 helps, but when it's so close, would it be worth waiting or not...it will make a big difference, or at least does with me ( my current policy ends in september, in october i hit the 21 barrier) (i also have a bike of sorts, and strangely enough could quite easily borrow a van identical to yours from work) and on a type R i will save £430 if i wait that extra month to hit 21. should imagine it would be the same, if not better, for you. best way is www.moneysupermarket.com, and go on the car insurance bit(because you can just press back in your browser, amend driver, and change the year you where born, rather than getting a full on quote)if you need your car at all in that month, norwich union do day insurance for £10.50 (pricey for the day, but if you need it for a fishing trip or the like, its worth it) or you can even get a 1 month policy with Ecar. Joe Sheehan!
Ring your insurance company? or just get a months insurance and get a years policy when your 25?
BONGO
The reason i've not done the obvious and talked to insurance companies is becasue for the last 3 years i've hidden 6 points from them...I've asked here and had some good advice, so thanks. I've been on money supermarket... Renewal price from Admiral, to whom i've been a customer for 3 years, was £520, with 3 years no claims and no points declared...Money supermarket has brought me Norwich Union, with 3 years no claims and 6 points declared, for £420 IF I WAIT 3 WEEKS UNTIL I'M 25.... £431 if i get insured on 01/04/08 when i'm 25 on 22/04/08. It's worth the £11 to avoid having my car uninsured on my drive for 3 weeks! So £431 everything declared
