Alex Dark
Hi, all i was wondering if the echo hydrolioc brakes were any good. Ive been told the pads they come with arnt any good so can someone please recomend some pads to go with them.ThanksAndrew the pads are fine...if you water bleed them however, they have what i like to refer to as the colindar effect...they just dont hold bleeds at all...the seals in the lever are tripe, just get an 04 magura... Ladd
the pads are fine, the brakes just loose fluid, get a magura
cwbashaw
I agree the pads are fine but if you want different pads you should specify if you have a grind or not. For example I like the blue rock trials pads for the rear because I have a grind, but I use the green for the front because I don't have a grind on the front. I like the rock pads, but I would probably go with the Heat Sinks next if I wasn't switching to VEE'sDo not get the CNC backed ones though they are known to rip the knob off the brakessee the quote below from Echo's website "Note: Never use aluminum backing brake pads for ECHO rim brake system, because the alunimun backing will cut the knob of the cylinder very easy. In such a case, warranty will be null and void."
tryallmaster
Can someone write a review on the echo CNC brake, very interested in buying just the lever unit.Cheers, Lewis
Ben John-Hynes
It's just pointless money spendage! They leek and lok crap.If you want an Epic brake get an '04 magura!
boiiing
People always seem to think that their crap because they leak....They only leak (in my experience) when they have been bled with water. So they leak when you use the wrong fluid in the brake, that doesn't make them shit at all. It's like saying a Shimano disc brake (that uses mineral oil) is crap because if you bleed it with dot fluid it kills the seals and leaks. Echo brakes aren't designed to have water in the system, so why use water? Edited April 2, 2008 by boiiing

Doubt it would have happened on a Dengura. So the price isn't that bad.Slave cylinders are smaller so crank clearance is better - good point Edited April 2, 2008 by boiiing
Ben John-Hynes
But you don't have a Dengura,So stop arguing with me!LOLI can see what you mean about the wrong fluid and all that but there aren't a lot of people out there who brek maggies like you do!xD

Its coman for lever bodies to snap, cylinder prongs to break hoseing to break all the time, tpas breaking although dengs is worse and many more stuff i cant think of. Still would have a maggie over one though
RENDER
Don't know about the pads but I'm selling this shit in Ukraine and from the last 10 sold ECHO Brakes 8 refounds... They bleed
NileBrownâ„¢
Echo brakes aren't designed to have water in the system, so why use water?Neither were maguras though were they? They say you can have cooking oil in as long as its flushed out,But not water... You hear far more cases of a leaking deng brake than maggies.just goes to show that maggies are in fact better Edited April 4, 2008 by NileBrown

Jason222
I've had 4 echo brakes. 2 of them leaked (non water bleed!), lines break easily, slow rebound, spongy, the brake pads are gay, I honestly have nothing good to say about them.I'd rather just have a magura with aftermarket lever.
