N.Wood
So I'm gonna be running a front V on my DOB, and have some CNC V backings. Is there any material available to fit in these that are hard/don't make much noise?I can't stand a squealing front brake when I'm riding to and from places.Heatsink seem to be out of stock, looked at Neco but am unsure.Any others? Token
Koxx Browns are pads that immediately come into my mind when thinking of hard an quiet compound.
Tom Booth
What sort of rim is it? asin the surface, you could try some of the avid rim wrangler pads, there meant to be sweet. I believe Rowan uses them on the back an they seem scilent on his bike.
Al_Fel
Avid pads on a smooth rim are frigging awsome. You've just got to keep the rim clean.
Krisboats
If you fit a vee booster as well it should make the brake silent despite whatever pads you use.Alternatively our red pads on a smooth rim up front are supposed to be very bitey pads, whilst not making excessive amounts of noise. They should be readily available very soon, but we do have re-fills cut to shape should you want to purchase some sooner. Luke Rainbird
Rowan runs Rim Wranglers on his rear end, and they are silent and, when the rim's clean and there's a tiny bit of moisture about, they're silly good.I tried a similar setup and it was pants, but the rim may have been a bit suspect...Heatsink red refils are currently not listed on the site, but are available, best bet is probably to PM/email Steve for thoseNeco pads I haven't tried, though Bigman said he was impressed with whichever set he was using (yellow, I think) so may be worth a shot
N.Wood
Cheers for the replys...The rim at the moment has a light grind, but that was just to take the paint off. Light grinds tend to make pads quieter than a really clean smooth rim I've found.Anyway, can Rim Wranglers be fitted into CNC V backings? Luke Rainbird
No, as they're a bog standard 50mm or so length, however they have their own metal backings as they're a cartridge pad, which seems to hold up well enough
Bionic Balls
rim wranglers ain't great....and you don't get much pad as with magura pads in CNC backings...they'll disappear on a grind...they'd be quiet though i reckon!
Luke Rainbird
Yeah, Wranglers probably aren't the best call for a grind, but on smooth they'd be ok, and silent.I'd go for a set of Heatsink Reds, Nick, but if you find anything wholly silent and working well, holla @ me homie
toyota200x
I still can't believe Rowan can ride rim wranglers in the rear. It seems like he would be slipping all over, but he doesn't from what I have seen in his vids.

Concrete pads? I know what you mean abotu loud theou, mine where mega loud when I used them. They'll probably be alot quieter in a vee thou, Should make for a very good front brake! The Duck
My heatsink reds are LOUDDD. Amazing brakes though so I'm willing to put up with the constant noise. Some one i ride with has cousts on a light grind and they only make a little bit of noise.I'd recomend Plaz Vee flys. I had them for ages on a light grind, just made a nice wooosh noise rather than a honk. Delta are cheapest for those.
