Yes i too have now had a call from Mr Crabtree the owner and it seems like 2 riders were at Bracken on Sunday, but the venue was not open so they parked in not a good place and when asked to leave did not do so with ease.

This venue is for practice but only when open so lookin the ACU hand book for Mr Cradtree and call before you drive dont just jump over the locked gate and enter as this is a pay to ride place its not free.

i will be looking in rides as i did see some one saying they were off to Bracken on Sunday just gone.

Hey guys,

Yeah, me and a few other guys rode there on Sunday, (and the week before without issues..).

Had we known it was advisable to contact Terry 1st, then we would've done so no trouble, we didn't mean to cause offense or annoy anyone..

As for "when asked to leave did not do so with ease", shortly after we arrived, someone walked up near us, mumbled a bit and walked off, so we carried on riding. He then returned a bit later, took my bag and walked off. Only then did we realise he actually wanted us out of there. We did offer to pay to ride, as has been the case in the past, and I tried asking the situation, but I don't think the fella could handle the fact I was being polite to him, got pretty aggressive, so we calmly left and made our way to Matlock instead.

Again, apologies to Mr Crabtree, and the guy who we spoke to on Saturday, we weren't aware of the situation, and it won't happen again. The last thing we want to do is loose this venue for future comps and practicing. :)

Mike.

Its pretty much exactly how mike explained it. The bit we parked the car in was a lay-by on the side of the narrow road and the gate didn't look to be in use (old rusty chain/padlock etc) we just tried to keep the car out the way to avoid causing problems for other drivers.

Saying the guy got pretty aggressive is quite vague, after grabbing mikes bag and proceeding to walk off with it without talking to us about what he's doing we gathered our stuff and caught up to him further down the drive to ask what was going on. He then told us that the area wasn't for biking on, we weren't supposed to be there "trashing" the place and that he used to live in london and if we didn't get out he'd either call the police or he'd "sort it out like we do back in london" (from the tone in which it was said it seemed to be a threat). He then said he was often in touch with the owner and that the owner wasn't going to be holding any more tyke trials or allowing bikes on here in the future, when we asked for the owners phone number to apologise and ask if we could ride there he said he didn't have any way of contacting him and didn't know anybody that did. We then proceeded to leave the venue and went to matlock quarry instead, so it was hardly like we were being gobby like it seems to have been implied, we just asked what he was doing with mikes bag, what the rules were on riding there and if he had contact details for the owner.

As far as we were aware people went riding there and paid a couple of pounds each to practise at the venue. We were more than willing to slide a few pounds each under the door of the hut once finished (which ended up being about 10 minutes after arriving) which we were under the impression was the general etiquette for riding there. Last time i went i was observing for a comp and really wished i'd got my bike with me that day. It was a last minute decision really as we decided late saturday night/sunday morning not to drive all the way to the other comp somewhere due to being tired from riding saturday. A quick search on the forum for contact details found no joy and not even an owners name, checking on google brought about a year old topic that i'd started myself asking for the contact details.... which also weren't known by anyone who replied then either.

We didn't mean to cause any problems and are sorry that we didn't get permission first.
