Trials Forum Ideas (possible Sticky Topic?)

great idea...should really help clean up the forum!

I think we should have the classifieds in different categories eg: (classifieds>for sale>controls>handlebars)

at least have classifieds>wanted, for sale, and OT

that way, people selling can post in fs and also look in wanted for possible sales, without having to sort through the posts

Split classifieds into forsale and wanted.

In 24 hours a bumped topic ends up in page 4!

It'd also make life easier for people looking to buy something, and people looking to sell.

The validation system, is preety much just ike that test up there aready, just abit longer winded.

And the template for sales threads, are you really that lazy?

im not lazy in that sense but i cant be bothered to sell on here

just thinking it easier then buyers would have all the information needed

I know what your getting at, but it just seems like if your not willing to put the majourity of that information into the sales thread yourself, then your not the best of sellers, In my books anyway.

read the thread name, its just an idea, if you think i am not a good seller then you have that opinion dont buy from me

i do not sell on here i only buy. if i was to sell on here i would enter all the needed information.

i was just adding a possible idea as the topic is for

I agree with this, it's annoying when youre trying to sell something, because there is always new stuff going up, your topic is usually pushed down within a matter of hours, not too good considering you're only allowed to bump it once a day.

Or what about changing the end user agreement so it has stuff like "do not sell in nmc", "use correct spelling and punctuation" etc and then a few tick boxes at the end, like:

Are you allowed to sell in NMC?

Yes o No o

What should you do before making a topic?

Do a search o Nothing o

And the last tick box will be something like:

I agree to the end user agreement and will abide by the rules set by www.trials-forum.co.uk

Dunno, just a thought. :turned:

I seriously doubt that will do anything at all. Simply because it's all too obvious and anyone wanting to get past it will do so.

The 'use the search' comment I think should be banned. Its highly irritating and tends to ruin most threads. I bet a good percentage of peoples posts are comments like 'don't sell in NMC!' and 'Use the search!'. Fair enough with the selling, but this is a discussion forum. Most threads tend to sway from the original point and so causes discussion.

If we used the search for every bloody post we made nothing would get posted and I'd sure as hell get bored with reading the same topics over and over.

Of course saying 'Use the Search' can be helpful sometimes (for example the TPA post) but most times its completely useless telling people this - the majority of the forum can't spell, and so keywords for the search function become messed up...making searchs difficult.

So my suggestion: Identify the differences between USERS and ADMINS!

For the record, I've read every post in here and I'm taking it all on board. I like the suggestion of another check box after 'I have read the rules' saying 'I know I'm not allowed to sell in new members chat'. The whole registration process needs to be more clear really.

Split Classifieds into subforums, if thats what people want it can be arranged. My only counter argument would be that when its mixed together like it is now, it means people selling stuff can easily see if people are wanting stuff. If you only ever sell stuff then you're unlikely to look in the wanted forum. But its up to you. I'll make a poll now..

Look under your avatar, it says Group: and then what sort of member you are (Pre-member, mod, admin...)

I meant it in an attitude way :) I tend to find too many people try to dominate their 'Full Member' status over the 'New Member' status - spouting off rules and regulations whenever they see the need.

possibly the safest forum on the internet.

i think we have TOO many rules.

We do have a lot of rules, it's true. I think we also have a lot of younger members (and I include teenagers in this) and some rules are really in place to stop them being ripped off. Also the rules stop the decline of the forum where idiots come on, spam, take up lots of mod and admin time and drive the good members out and only leave a wrecked forum.

If the forum was mainly 25-40 year olds, there wouldn't be half as many rules. I also suspect it wouldn't half as much fun.

If someone get's 2 bad feedback and 2 good feedback, that equals a 0 feedback score. Which at a galce looks like they've never traded, even though it's a toss of a coin wether your going to have a good transaction or not.

Maybe a bad feedback could equal -5 so they'd have to show they were a good seller by selling 5 items well? Or maybe a % like on ebay?
