Does Anyone Play Ikariam?

its a realtime game where you build a town and have to collect resources, make alliances and rob other peoples stuff.

sounds like tribal wars. One of those games where you have to wait like 4 hours to do anything like build a house or attack someone

Having a play on it now, takes like 30 mins to make a building/upgrade a building looks quite nice way to just burn time so far

if you want a relatime game... www.planetarion.com ... been playing it so many years now its SAD.. literally my deep dark geek secret. Theres a speed game running at the moment (1 minute between stuff happening as opposed to 1hr). it will probably be boring to some of you though.. since the community is all on IRC which is a major part of the game.

I use to play http://www.barafranca.com/ when I was back at school, perfect way to make lessons fly.

Your basically a gangster who has to rob, gamble, buy protection, buy guns, buy/sell narcotics an try an get into a family for protection. An not piss anyone off. Haven't played it for like 5 years so I imagine it's got a fair bit better, I was so addicted to it though.

Used to play Spaceminers too, was actually a developer on that for a bit, although did no development, decided it wasn't for me at the time. Also played Planetia where i was a multihunter for a bit, although never really took it seriously, unlike Empirequest, which is the first ever tick based game i played. Half hour ticks and to this day the gameplay hasn't been beaten by another game, not even PA.

Man, those were the days, i'm talking like 4 years ago since i stopped playing those games and i played for a good 2 or 3 years.

Madness that they are mostly still going.

Finished top 40 a few times now.. how geeky did you get in to it simon? as in did you use mirc and join alliances? .. ive been a DC (sickening job) and now a BC in an alliance (a lot more fun).. the player base is a fraction of what it used to be.. they are really struggling with finding people to code etc. Used to be like 250k people playing now it barely reached 1.6k.. but still fun

I used to rock DopeWars, me and my friends had a Cartel.

Then we went on to oGame but joined too late in the round to actually play.

Then and most recently I tried Lost Power City, which I didn't like...

Used mIRC on a daily and sickening basis. Setting my alarm super early in morning to send attacks so the enemy would awake to a massive barrage of fleets. Working out how long people would take to travel and making it so everyone arrived at the same time, finding out the time zone of the person and when they usually sleep and so on.

Uh er, in PA i was in Wolfpack for the round i played, and yeh, i played before it went pay to play, then i played one round of pay to play as a mate paid for me and a few others. I was quite a big player in Empirequest, not skill wise, only came top 100 once, alliance i was in was always top 5 though except my first ever round, but more known by most, was such a shame when that closed, then all the talk of it coming back, then now nothing as far as i know.

So long ago now that i can't really remember more then that.

1.6k! Christ, that is tiny! Shame, they was good games, and often had some really good people, and some very scarily skilled people who consistently came top and knew exactly what they was doing, the tactics and ideas that some of the leaders and staff had was just insane.

yea the tech of the alliance has come a LONG LONG WAY.. WolfPack came back for a round think r21 and won it by a mile lol. Its pretty much all hardcore dedicated people now and winning is a case of skill and who you know. You should come back! they need people badly... its £5 a game though, unless you can get someone to buy you a credit.. but meh i like it its something to do .. and sleepless night are disgusting.. when i was a defence coordinator i would regulary be awake from 12 - 10am next day.. its disgusting never ever again.
