Im In The Shit

This thread is such a joke. Some people on here have real problems to deal with in life, not this stupid shit.

I don't get why you're so angry about this? Worst case scenario: Beau's at risk of potentially being guilty of death by dangerous driving which could mean up to 14 years in jail - in addition to the knowledge that he may have killed someone which will haunt him for the rest of his life. It's quite hard to imagine something more 'real' than that?

He has only himself to blame.

That's all I'm saying.

And since you ask why I'm so angry... how long before one of these 17 year old bad drivers goes hopelessly wide on a left-hander and takes YOU or ME out with him?!

I'm confident in my own ability as a driver. I've been at it 7 years, and no doubt still have much to learn. But standards of people in general are getting sloppier and sloppier. The driving test needs severely tightening up. When I'm on the road, it's the other drivers that scare me.

Mate.... i ride a motorbike im more than aware of other people drivings, but IMO the older people are far more scary than the young people. The DSA doe's its job fine, maybe there should be more legislation on newly passed drivers but atm there isn't.... And he doesn't just have himself to blame, maybe he does, maybe he doens't, you wern't there, you didnt see it, so how are you so sure? If someone runs in front of your car when your doing 30mph (covering 13m a second) and you hit them are you to blame? no. All cases arn't the same and arn't black and white, so i fail to understand how your so convinced that you might as well lock him up an throw away the key now

in fairness if the old guy dies it would be pretty f**kking terrible for the lad, ive been in a similar situation where i thought id given someone brain damage and was a little more than relived when i found out it was a misunderstanding, never mind death.

15mph is very fast for reversing, an just the fact that he was out late is no real excuse oldies always go out late talking dogs on walks etc .

All this mirror talk I've got a long wheel base transit van with no rear windows so when I reverse I have to use my mirrors. I don't know exactly what is directly behind me but before I reverse I check the situation out.

To be honest if the police see a young lad in a lowered car with tinted windows what are they meant to think?

Ouch dude - that's just some shit luck right there. Technically if this goes to court, you're f**ked. I'm afraid however innocent you feel it is entirely your fault, you were reversing on the same side of the road you just drove on and therefore the old man could have already looked left and saw it was clear (as you drove past) and after looking right, stepped out. He couldn't have known you would stop and reverse back towards him. Still, hope you get the lesser beating (worse case scenario being the guy dies and you go down for death by undue care and attention or manslaughter).

Good luck mate.

Yeah I've driven a LWB trannie and they're a total b*****d to reverse using just the door mirrors. Obviously cars have rear view mirrors which make things a bit easier but it's still far easier just to look over your shoulder.

Bearing in mind that it appears from your initial post that you gave that old dude some serious air time, they're also not likely to think you were slowly reversing in a cautious manner. Tinted windows and stuff like that won't help your case either.

Either way, the world keeps on turning. Regardless of whether it's your fault and you get done for it or not, you'll still get through it just because events are basically out of your hands now. Just keep on keepin' on.

I don't understand some of the people on here, show the poor guy a bit of support, hes clearly having a rough time at the moment, puts a post on here just to let people know whats going on and gets a load of shit off people. It was an accident, nobody is perfect and we all make mistakes, theres not really any need to have a dig at him aswell.

I don't know you, but i really hope things work out for you, best of luck.

In my eyes your totally spot on! Whats the point in giving his sh1t for it? Fair enough he may have made a few mistakes, but the last thing he wants is for you lot to try making it worse for him!

And about all this "sound guy" stuff, i said it because what i know of him he is, and he totally doesnt deserve this string of bad luck he has been having, i didnt say it meaning he should be let off or that he has done nothing wrong!

Oh and Beau, id try and sort something out about getting them cut springs off! As the insurance wont take nicely to em >_<

But keep your head high man! I know your not in the best of situations, but dont let it change you as a person!

Good luck again man! (Y)

I don't want to sound like too much of a dick here, but I don't think 'luck' really has anything to do with this situation?

Agreed... The things i know from what has been said, everything's avoidable, even down to the reasons Beau was kicked out.

I totally understand where both of you are comming from. It may have been avoidable, but you must admit we all have slip ups in life, just seems to be alot of Beau's are comming at once!

But fair enough, most of it isnt luck!

he didn't NEED to come in at 4-6am every day...

he didn't NEED to not have a job...

hitting the guy was just an unfortunate accident, i blame the old dick for just walking out, there should be a cerfew for people over 70 to be in by dark, then they wouldnt get scared by the youth.

lol. Yeah that's likely!! My grandad is 82 and rides over 60 miles a week on a road bike. He's now got to stay in because you think so. And why do you think so...becasue and old man was hit by a young driver reversing the length of 2 houses in the dark under a broken street light, and who didn't go slow enough to stop in the event of a situation developping because of his lack of good vision.

there are dangerous old people but there are also dangerous young people and in this case it's not the old mans fault at all.

You are not allowed to reverse using only your mirrors in your car test you'd be failed instantly for observation, or lack of it. your mirrors are there to give you an idea of what is happening around you they aren't there to be used because you can't be bothered to look over your shoulder.

vans and goods vehicles are different as you should have someone there to guide you ideally.

everytime someone who is over say 60 goes to their gp he'll ask them a few questions to make sure they aren't deluded. if they are then he will recommend they go and see someone or refer them so they have to. it's unfair to force older people to stay inside the house all night because alot of older people prefer to be out late at night when it's quiet and as soon as they stop going out they'll start on a downwards hill towards death basically.

and whats the difference between an older person out at night maybe slightly deluded or a younger person who's drunk making their way home.

The driving test needs severely tightening up.

From my experiance, they have.

I've taken 3 tests so far, and failed all of them. I know i'm not a bad driver (as far as learners go..) I just made simple mistakes, that the examiners over-exaggerated, so I failed.

First one I was waiting to cross a D/C, and she claimed that the car was "rolling into the road" when I was waiting for one car to pass, then go.

Second one I forgot to check my blindspots a few times before pulling away etc, and I got 4 minors on that so it's a major.

Then the third I was waiting in a queue of traffic on a small roundabout, and as traffic started moving, I was slowly rolling waiting for the car behind me (behind to the left) to go so I could fit through and go after. But she slams on the brakes because she thought I was going to go and cut it up. - Only got 3 fauls for the whole test...

So basically, there are a lot of bad drivers on the roads, and mainly around my age (17). I think that DSA have gotten a bit tighter on who passes etc because of this.

I'm not saying Beau's a bad driver, although from hearing about thias incident, wether it's 100% or not, it did sound like some pretty careless driving. You don't really need to use the accelorator to reverse, even my Mini's clutch can pull it up hills etc in reverse, so i'm sure any car can!

Anyway, unlucky Beau, it's a hard lesson to learn.
