Muelio, I'm usually on your side, but he's done a lot of damage, Reverse usually has the same gearing as 1st so 15mph in reverse would be ragging it, and he has done a hell of a lot of damage so i doubt it was a rational- check your mirrors reverse slowly kinda manuvre

But i don't know how anyone can really critisise him for it, I'm sure everyone who has ever driven a car alone has definatly done something that could have ended in something like this, its just shit luck that it had to happen to you.... so sorry man hope things perk up for you soon

If you can't see where you are reversing though, you should do something to the same effect anyway, you don't need the benefit of hindsight to know you shouldn't aim your car somewhere that you can't see is clear, or if you are, at least drive slow enough to stop if an old b*****d walks in the way. Forwards, mehh, someone could walk out on a 40 road yeah then it's unavoidable, but reversing from a house, two houses back, it's easy enough to go real slow when your mirrors are showing black darkness.

I agree with what bongo says he was more than likely in the fault aswell as the man though being insome fault. But the thing is we all do it, you might be with a group of mates and you all say answering your phone is wrong when driving ect but how many people still do it. It seems alright to do it at the time even if you know you shouldnt or you should go that bit slower ect but untill it goes tits up everyone still does it, you just always think it won't happen to you. The annoying thing is that the law will see it as your fault no matter if everyone else does it.

And anyway, if I got hit by a car doing 20mph, I doubt it would do anything, most people just walk away.

He was an unlucky old man who couldn't hear a car revving its tit's off coming towards him. I really feel for him and hope he gets better, I will certainly be checking on grandparents ability to detect in some way, a car coming towards them before they cross the road.

I hope the old guy gets better, and that Beau get's his car and life back. I just think that anyone in hear who pin all the blame on Beau are completely out of order.

Depends how you get hit - 20mph and the weight of a car is a fair amount of force! Especially if you're 75 and fairly fragile!

I meant that the majority of people that get hit at 20mph walk away. Obviously they will have cuts and bruises, but nothing broken.

You have to also considor that if you get hit by the front you roll up onto the bonnet, the back is a lot steeper and more like running into a wall.

I reckon they both take some kind of responsibility into what has happened and feel sorry for them both as they are in a right shitter of a situation.

The only thing that gets me is that if this was vice versa, some random old guy had reversed into a guy that we know, we would all be the first to start going "why was he going so fast, why wasnt he looking where he was reversing properly, he shouldnt be driving'

We dont know what really happened and cant make any kind of real judgement, so its all just scepticism really.

if you can't see then you shouldn't reverse, you can get out the car and check if it's safe to do so or you can get someone to guide you. That question came up in my theory test. you really shouldn't go back at any speed. so thats why I'm guessing you were charged with dangerous driving.

Im not an idiot and i dont mean to be and to them who said why am i kicked out.

i am kicked out for not going back to home every day till 4 or 6 in morning getting into salot of trouoble with money not doing what they say like clean car get a job etc etc and they had enough of me. I can sometimes come back for a quick shower.

And i was actually doing 15 smack on but its not my driving test now is it so i dont do everything by the book. and to all you that said i didnt drive properly check mirrors etc yes i fookin did but checking mirrors seing what another car is doing and watching chavs f**k about next to you is hard to be honest.

I'm not quite sure how you know you were doing 15 - were you looking at the speedo or looking where you were going? 15 mph going backwards is really fast - the steering at that speed is really twitchy and I certainly wouldn't go that fast backwards on a street with other cars and (obviously) people.

had a quick glance at speed. Dno ok befor ive been up the road at 30 in revers but that was at 3 in morning with no one around at all in a wide road just to test something. My car handles beasty because i lowerd it so much but still i hit someone.

its really anoying when peoplecome on her egoing i have no sympathy for you etc did i say i was looking for it. Just saying whats gone on.
