Recommended Posts

Right, my brother is looking at getting into a bit of mixing,

He has always been intrerested in it, but only now does he have the funding for it.

Problem is he dosent really know anything about buying some decks, and nor do I.

I know some people on here have very extencive knowlage on this matter so i was wanting some advice for him.

Any links or advice at at all would be much apreciated.

He just wants a starter set up, something to get into it.

Thanks

Leo

What are they and how much are you after for them?

If Leo/Leo's brother isn't interested I might be (though since I've run out of money I really shouldn't...)

Like i said they are beginner decks i had them to learn on, So they don't have much on them and i cant remember what make (ill have a look tomorrow and pm you) and am look at about 35-40 don't no how much postage would be yet But they are all in good nick clean every think it has built in amp and mixer.

I haven't properly read the thread (Yeah I know, lazy...)

But, I recommend only using direct drive turntables as opposed to belt drive. Belt drives wear out fast and are not accurate - making your mix sound sloppy and making it much more work for you to pull one off well.

So, look for direct drive ones - Technics 1210's Mk2 or mk5 being the best - obviously costing the most too though. Avoid KAM decks, I used to sell them and they caused me nothing but grief. Numark direct drives are ok for beginners.

Basically if it's really cheap it's gonna be pretty crap - same as trials components really.

I don't know much/anything about turntables, but I know that with anything if you buy shit cheap stuff, you're going to have to replace it sooner than if you buy something nice and that bit more expensive.

Buy nice or buy twice!

Pretty much! It's not just that either, it's the quality you get when it's working - inconsistancy and stuff.

Think of it like a cheap frame, you'll not be able to do much with a crap geo and loads of weight, then it snaps. Not good!
