_Owen.
Do you mean what DOES disk mount facing means? If so, it is a tool which will cut into your disk mounts, ensuring they are straight and even, allowing your caliper to be set up straight! Ash-Kennard
basically flattens the surface
Andeee
Heres a statement of what it means in the workshop section on tartybikes: - Want to make your disc brake easier to set up, work more efficiently, and prevent squeal?- Facing your disc mounts ensures they are prefectly level and flat, leading to all the benefits listed above. Captain Scarlet
basically flattens the surfaceDoesn't mean squat Ash.Facing them is making sure the tabs are ground in a position that is perfectly parralel to your disc rotor. (Therefore minimum pad angle, and better lever feel).
chrisbikefix
makes sure the disc mounts are parralel to the axle point, so everything is linned up erfect. it takes off the layer of paint, or defects in the metal so the caliper is nice and flat againts them (or washers). And like everyone else says, stops squel and makes it alot easier to set up ..

2hammered
Right guys , as you have already explained before , facing off the mounts means that the caliper can be attached perfectly level which will then mean that your pads are also level and allows u to centre the rotor easier ! some companys require u have your mounts faced off for warranty to be valid ! so check ! it should also improve your breaking power as you can then center the rotor so both pads pull at the same time ! you normally face your headtube and bottom bracket aswell and it makes everything fit well and flush ! all in all a better feel from your bike ! hope this helps !oh and i didn't explain basically its a fine cutting tool that takes a very fine layer of paint/metal off the mount to make it level !
