Muel
Whatever you do, buy second hand. The bike you get for £400 will be much better than any £400 bike new, like a T-Pro.

Muel
Am I like the only guy who's really tired of the same "Please buy my bike" replies from you?!Please stop!!What bike would that be? Oh. The one I sold about a week ago! It's my opinion. I spent over £1000 building a bike that is now worth £450. I don't want him to make the same mistake. Apu
Keep away from second hand aluminium frames, if they are used they have probable fractures in the compound depending on how they were ridden. Bikes are only made to last 3 yrs so stick to a time frame of 1 or so used yrs of bike or just buy a heavy, steel framed bike.

dan_addison
Try and ride a 26" and a 20" to see what you prefer. Most people will tell you that a 20" is better to learn on but i found that 26" was alot nicer to ride. Its all about personal preferance
