pockettissue
Hi everyone.I'm new to this forum, and new to trials biking as well. I have a couple of beginner questions.I'm 14, and I'm only 5'2" (short). Would this hinder my ability to ride trials? Also, is the Norco Evolve a good bike? I am looking to buy a cheap beginner stock bike to learn with. Thanks everyone!Hmm. It seems like many people here are in the UK. Is anyone in Canada like I am? pockettissue
Thanks for showing me that website.But.. I'm on a very limited budget of $400.00 Canadian, which would be roughly 200£, assuming you're in the UK.I have considered mods, however I seem to be partial to stock bikes. Something about the smaller wheels just doesn't suit me.I should probably be fine on a stock right? Since there is a used Norco Evolve for sale near me that fits my budget and is in great condition, but I don't know if it is a good bike overall.Thanks. ..::littlesam::..
Hi there , i would say your best bet is to go for the Norco and then gradually build it up with new parts like bars, stem new brakes etc. and then wen u have a good spec Norco buy a new frame and then it does not cause you to spend all your money at once, and also you can buy good parts that you know will not break. The only disadvantage of this is that it takes time but it is satisfying when it is complete. I did this and now i have a top spec bike that i am pleased with and it doesn't appear to of taken a massive chunk out of my wallet ( even though when you and it all up it has!)I hope this help Sam x
Skoze
As long as the stock is relatively light and has say, sub 1065/1070 wheelbase. you should be fine.In the long run stock's are better for you Norco's are always well built from my experience with them, so the frame won't die on you! you could buy it and then gradualy upgrade what you need, when you need it.Whats the current spec of the one you're looking at?Matt - i'm 14 too, but just over six foot. started on a 1065 wb zoo pitbull when i was about your height.Good luck with it all
pockettissue
Thanks everyone. The Evolve I'm looking at is a 2006 model. The archives on the Norco website says it weighs 27 lbs and the wheelbase is 1081 mm. And yup, I plan to put new parts on it as I go along. Probably first on my list is to make it single speed. Matt_Thibeau
heard he did go with the evolve, its not the best, but i guess it can work. practice hard!
pockettissue
Yup, I did go with the Evolve.I know the Evolve isn't the best bike, but it was very cheap ($400 CDN.)So far, I've found learning much easier. The weather outside is miserable, so I took my bike into the basement and practised rocking. Whenever I felt like I was falling over I'd just lean to the right side (where a pole just happened to be) to regain my balance and try again. Better than putting my feet down So basically, I'll get a better bike as I get better. But so far, I'm really enjoying trials.
