Henrik Y
Don't ride until then, it could be something thats just needs a little resting. And if you keep riding, that resting time could be a lot longer.Or you are getting old and the body can't keep up. Take it easy until you know for sure what it is. spode@thinkbikes
Is the pain in the tendon just below your knee cap?
psycholist
My guess is it's being bent too far when you tuck the bike up under you on hops and landings, I've felt my knee taking some nasty twisting on landings, but it never hurts thankfully. If you're talking about knee ligament trouble it could get pretty nasty if something is going wrong. Try to find a knee specialist, or at least a sports injury specialist to see about this - all most GP's will do is give you some anti-inflammatory tablets to mask the symptoms and possibly recommend an x-ray... Rob Thomson
I get the same thing but riding my BMX for a while, they just creak and aren't very happy at all since i bought it...Methinks trials has turned me soft and now anything vaguely stressfull is hurting poor little me
cai
My Dad had the same thing in both knees, but that was from playing Rugby for the last 30 years! He had to have massive opperations on both, (it costed like £3000 per knee) and he coudn't walk for 8 weeks! - I hope you don't have to have that done! totaltrials
If you've ever sprained your ankle(s) and it hasn't healed properly you could get an instability in that area and get pains in your knee, I occasionally get pains in my knee because my ankle is healed on the piss. N.Wood
I take Glucosamine tablets pretty often now, i used to wake up in the morning, go to run up the stairs and collapse in a heap when my knees would just give way. Seem to be a bit better now, just the odd pain now and again.
Captain Scarlet
Hmn I'm a bit worried about something familiar to this.Whenever I tuck down in a move on trials, such as sidehopping, gapping etc, I get a sharp pain from the foot/leg joint (pretty much where the end of the tongue on your shoe is).It just comes along when ever, and when it does I have to jump off the bike in pain, and occurs pretty much for the next 30 mins. spode@thinkbikes
All of your knee problems could be entirely different problems. So suggesting "I get this", "I get that" can be misleading to him. The same rules apply - if you are worried, go to the doctor. If you kick up a fuss, he will put you through to a Physio, which is probably what you need. If in doubt, get in touch with Si (physio on TF).The reason I asked if the pain was in the tendon below the knee cap, is I'm convinced that "Jumper's Knee" is going to become the Tennis Elbow of trials.http://www.sportsinjuryclinic.net/cyberthe...umpersknee.htmlI've been suffering from it for nearly 3 years and I think now because the only sport I do is trials. Your front leg uses your quads a lot as it is stamping down and your rear leg uses your calfs a lot as it is doing the bunny hopping. If you do nothing but trials, you can end up like me - my right calf is double the size of my left, and my right leg has a weak quad causing the tendonitis in my patella. Both Nick Goddard and I are suffering from it, so it's something worth keeping an eye out for.But as totaltrials suggests, it can also be a problem with your ankle - which is why I had a ligament in my ankle intentionally torn before Christmas so that it could have a chance to heal properly - this in combination with special exercises has reduced my knee problems a lot, but it's still not perfect (yet). For God's sake don't leave it as long as I did!N.Wood - I don't know if you're talking about the same thing as me, but the day after riding, the pain was so bad that walking into town my leg would just give way underneath me every few paces, and walking up stairs was almost impossible. It'd be ok up to a certain point of bent-ness ( ), but after that I wouldn't be able to extend it further. For example getting up from a crouched position would be fine as long as i didn't go past a certain point, then I'd be f**ked haha... Seemed to be worse in the mornings. The standard Glucosamine tablets from Waitrose seem to be doing the trick, havn't had the problems for a while.
