Disc Brakes?

Because there f**king shit.

I worked for Cycleworks in Guildford for nearly 5 years, and i had to deal with halfords for our cycle to work scheme every week.

Nearly EVERY employee knows f**k all, they all think exhausts make you go faster, the bikes they sell/endorse are shit (every one of them), They can't do up Crank bolts, they sell shitty speakers, and there tools are made of cheese.

Want me to carry on

a slightly narrow minded generalisation about a rather big company. especially when he's asking for an opinion on a product and not a shop.

the actual bikehut cable brakes are pretty good, not as sharp as an avid, but for the money pretty good.

regards to "all their bikes they sell/endorse being shit" not really that true is it. some of the bikes are actually ok. my bionic frame, which halfords now sell; is very good. think you need to chill a little.

in referance to what disc brake, i'd go for a bb7, for power, ease of set-up, reliability and value for money you cant beat one, geta reasonable lever/cable combo to get the most out of it and you'll be sorted.

Generally speaking, Hope's don't leak. Of course ANY fluid based system can leak if damaged. Magura's have a much higher chance of leaking as the hosing is not as strong - catching them with your feet on the rear happens a lot.

BB7's work very well, but with very little modulation and cost less (if budget is an issue).

I personally use Hope Trials front and rear. If your rear disc is working - don't fiddle with it :)
