LukasMcNeal
i think its just a freebie viz top cap that they give nothing special you can probably still use a different one if you wanted

cai
Yeah it's a top-cap!The inside of the steerer has a thread in it, and that just screws in. Its stronger than the standard top-cap, bolt and star-fangled nut.Smart Guys have them to.As the threads only go a little way down, I'm not sure what you'd to is you cut the steerer?*what you'd do if you cut the steerer

eskimo
You can cut the steerer as long as you cut it straight and smooth. The thread goes fairly far down you'll have to check that though. The top cap is alloy which is a lighter setup plus this design is generally lighter and stronger. The fork itself is really stiff and the steerer is now 1-piece.[edit] no need to rethread. catch Dan on msn and he'll tell you what other stuff you need to know. ask him nicely and he'll probably cut the steerer for you. _Owen.
If you cut the steerer, just bash a star nut in there and use them like normal forks!

The Duck
When you buy viz forks from tarty, they give you a star nut aswel as the built in topcap. The threads don't go all the way down so when you cut the steerer, you need to bash the starnut in.Don't get them anyway - don't know if the tarty ones are slightly different/newer/better (they come with a different topcap and they only started stocking viz stuff recently) but the t-uk ones bend. Bessell's bent, so did Porters. Bessells within 2 weeks, and Porters after riding for an hour.

Dan@Trials-uk
The V!Z Forks have been the same for a fair while now, they have recently changed the top-cap design for 08 ( The images on our site shows last years top-cap, however I will get them updated to stop confusions) The forks now comes with a star fangled nut for riders who prefer to use this set up rather then the built in one. If you do prefer to have the star nut set up, just let us know and we will install it for you:)
