ok im losing my dog tomorow and i dont know how im gonna cope as ive had him since i was 5 and now im 19 tomoz is gonna be the last time im going to see my dog just wondering if you have lost your pets and if you have had them for a long time you would understand that you dont see them as a pet but part of the family.

i know 14's a good age for a german shepheard but its so hard cos he dont act like hes old he still trys and runs about and you can play fight with him and looks like hes got a smile on his face (strange i know) so thats why i know its going to be hard to cope

if you got any advice please tell me

cheers rick

get another? there really isn't all that much you can do but remember the good times

get a new dog?

What you both said is a bit gay realy! ( gay being ,,,,, insensitive)

Yes ,a dog, maybe easily bought just as a common commidity is.

But a family member(such as a dog) becomes loved.

You cant "buy" a new baby girl/boy .........I hope.

If you get my point!

Sorry to hear about your bad news dude :(

Yeh i agree but some people see animals as being toys and if they are broken, just get a new one. Which is annoying as they shouldnt deserve to have animals in the first place (wasnt aimed at the people above by the way, i was just saying, incase anyone starts bitching)

Sorry to hear that anyway, what is wrong with the dog that it calls for this to happen anyway?

I suppose you jut move on and get over it eventually to be honest though, like everything else.

basically hes got bad joints so he hardly gets up any more unless he wants to go out and even then he cant control his bladder sometimes and he dont know whats going on which isnt nice first thing in the morning if you get me.

but too be honest we are lucky to have him as when he was around 6-7 he had eperlepsy (sp) and he pulled through

people who say just get another one, i cant just do that ive grown up with this dog and just to replace him as it were would be crap because it wouldnt be the same dog if you get me

Same with the German Shepherd we've got at the moment, he has epilepsy, has to have 3 pills in the morning and 3 at night and has to have special diet food because they made him put on weight to begin with and it costs as absolute bomb each month.

Before the one we had at the moment, we had another alsatian, she died during the night when a tumor that we didnt realise she had, ruptured, about a year after that we decided to get another dog as it just doesnt seem right when after years of there being a dog around etc you all of a sudden dont have one, so i'd still think about getting another dog eventually.

think the funniest mem i have of jake was when he was like really young still a lil s**t and it was boxing day i had gone round my dads with my bro and mum went to her mates, when she picked us up and came home jake had jumped onto our counter and had everything huge turkey yule logs sausage rolls mini sausages stuffing the lot i found it funny mum didnt lol

or the mount of times he used to get out and we have a A road near us and he got himself there, luckly a copper stopped opened the door jake jumped in and he got returned but we didnt have a clue as we just used to leave the back door open for him and we had a really crap gate

funny times

My dog was 15, lost all ability to stand up overnight and wet himself and stuff :(

I was really sad, I was only 18 and we'd had him since I was 4 - I still really miss him now and it was 5 years ago...

I'm not ashamed to admit I cried a lot when he went, it was like losing a brother - I had a shit childhood and he was the only thing I could talk to - sounds stupid I know but it's true.

Long story short, I know what you're going through and it's not nice - time is the only healer mate.

There really is nothing you can do, only take each day as it come's!.

I had a hamster that died from a brain hemorrhage... not nice to see when your about 12, a hamster still walking covered in blood but... thats the only pet loss iv really encountered.

I have a cat at the moment which is 4-5 i cant remember... but i cannot imagine him gone with out getting a lump in my throat!.

Well just think how putting it down will be much nicer for it than dying slow painfull death. We've had couple of cats put down and our 21 year old one is on her last legs, is on some tablets to help it's kidneys function properly.

Kinda got used to having cats around so have allways replaced them, is the way forward in my eyes. In fact my sister the heartless fiend was asking if we could put the 21 year old cat down so she could get a kitten.

^what he said, had it pretty much the same (less the shit childhood maybe) with my cat, chose him as a kitten when I was 4, had to have him put down when I was 20 when he lost the ability to even stand up, overnight... Was absolutely f*cking gutted :

Even though he was the skankiest, one eyed, bald patched, most irritating, dribbler of a cat, he was always up at 4am to talk to for half an hour when I came in fully blunted, always came and sat with me for a cigarette, always came and supervised while I tried to fix my car, always met me half way from the bus stop when I used to get the bus home from school...

It's the shittest thing ever, it isn't just losing a pet, it's losing a best friend. You just gotta remember the good times and smile :)

I absolutely hate it when people say "buy a new pet", think before you say something stupid..

The guys is losing a good friend/family member.

I have a dog myself and I know how bad it must be to lose him.

Dogs can really be great friends, they are always there for you and don't judge you for anything =]

I don't really have anything to add here, just try to remember the good times with him, and think how he is in peace now.. =]
