Skoze
Well set up BB7's can be, but they'll have a different feel to a hope, and hopes feel better/ are far more reliable imo. Also, BB7's are cast, they can crack/ snap when abused. Krisboats
Mono trials are also known for having the seals leak, melt and pistons stick. In my past experience the mono trials has been completely tempremental, working fine one day and not working at all the next. Only a few bb7's have snapped so don't let that put you straight off. They're cheap, extremely powerful and easy to set up and maintain. With the amount of riders that use them theres obviously going to be a few that fail, but people speak very highly of them. N.Wood
I'd go BB7 every time. Mines been perfect.I snapped the caliper/adaptor, but that was a second hand brake that was about 3 years old.Everyone i know who has a mono trials has had problems with it, many are wanting to change to a BB7. ilikeriding
The discs that come with 08 bb7's are absolute shit
Headley
avid's main plus point is they're mechanical so no bleeding and very easy to maintain, also they're really cheap. One down side is they feel slightly spongy when you pull the lever but it's not too bad. Hopes on the other hand feel brilliant but do decide when they want to work or not as the case may be. dec
yes avid bb7 are great i have one its the 185mm rotar. It is the best disc i have felt i love them i could reccomend them to anyone. They are very easy and quick to set up and when set up wright they are a beast of a break. Yes i do agree hope probally do feel better however the bb7 are alot cheaper and you dont have to bleed the bb7 as its cable. Anyway yes i would say bb7 all they way and to be honist i have not really rode a hope but i have heard they are awsome aswell and they stop anyone but yes you do have to bleed them but it doesnt take a genius to bleed them. basically they both have there advantages and disadvantages so it is up to you they are both excellent brakes what ever you decide dec

cadbury's cream egg
there has been loads of posts on this , just use the search . but bb7 are mint . if you want cheap and good quality , get a hayes mx2 , its £30 and i say is nearly as good as a bb7 if you set it up well . i have tried both msnd i have no problem with a my mx2leon
PaRtZ
mono trial <<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<bb7...ahem surely its:Mono trial < BB7anyway yeah bb7's rock. When mono trials work I reckon they're more powerful but still bb7's can give you jsut as good whiplash if you set em up right and proper!and yeah, whoever it was who said about the rotors i have a feeling are right. I bought an 08 avid but kept my old rotor (the cleansweep rotor) because its the nuts.
LukasMcNeal
a new bb7 is like £40 and a hope is like £130 so you cant really go wrong with an bb7 and if its not a good as a hope what do you expect it is cheaper but if set up well they are good. but personally bb7s are the best on mods Edited February 13, 2008 by spookylukey
