Matt Vandart
"Does anyone else collect stupid crap?!"......Welcome to my world! My collecting hobbies started when I was 9 years old. Whilst on holiday in the Lake District, I found a rather intriguing matchbox on the pavement. It had a pretty picture of a hotel on the front. It had been raining, so the box was damp. As I carefully opened it, to my utter joy it was full of matches, but they were made of black wood, with white heads! So began an obsession. I ended up with over 1000+ matchboxes, from all corners of the globe (full and unspent), stored in the drawers under my bed. Thinking back, if any had ignited, I would have been the 1st boy in space, on a mattress. My interests then developed to collecting, knives, beer bottles, pieces of found metal, wood and interesting stones. Weirdly, I don't seem to have grown out of this. I now collect, not unsually, records, cassettes, Cd's, magazines, musical instruments and such. But, to the extent that when buying our house, my Wife insisted we get one with an extra room to house all my 'crap' Cool! I'm sat typing this surrounded by my 'collectables' But I suppose the most irrational ones, are the cupboard full of foam packing I keep at work, (Yes, my workmates take the piss, but they can't see the overall 'plan'). Oh yeah, I also have a tendency to hoard boxes and tins. My shed is full of useful storage containers, but they contain nothing within, except box within box, tin within tin. 'Russian Doll' syndrome? But I suppose my weirdest collection, is a ball of 'magazine snot'. You know, the stuff they use to stick CD's to the cover of magazines? Well I've been collecting it over the years and formed a ball of it slightly bigger than a golf ball. I tried to take a picture of it to post on here, but it fell off the desk and got stuck with some dog hair and 'unmentionables' and it didn't really look fit for 'human consumption'.I probably regret posting this reply, but f**k it! Has anyone collected anything weirder?f**kin awsome. My house is full of shit, but it's not mine, it's my missus and kids. The f**kers collect anything they find, f**king bags, shoes, fridge magnets....If there is something in the street thats not dogshit my kids bring it home, the youngest one brought home a budgie in a rusty cage once. I have no f**kin Idea where he got that from, the nearest pet shop is 8 miles away and he was 7, it remains a mystery. The weirdest thing I have seen for real was my mates dad. He collected the observer newspaper, in his loft was a couple of tons of newspapers, no shit. How the f**k his roof didn't collapse is a mystery. His reason for keeping them was that he might remember something and want to read it again......hmmm. Matt

adamtrials
I have a lot of rubiks cubes, when I got bored I used to go round cities seeing how many different ones I could find to buy... I have around 20 different ones, from tiny to very large, and the 4x4, 5x5 and Siamese cubes (two or more connected together). The one I really want but have never bought is the v cube 7, a 7x7 cube...

Tom_
Beer bottles, like proper beers, bitters and ales. Just because they tend to be in decent sized and proper bottles. Although I do have a tiger bottle and a baileys bottle in there.
Bronz
christ, nice selection of montana's there used to be more of a belton man myself that or the time i used monster colors paint lol, not as good....Same here. I found montana was rubbish, much preferred belton too. Montana seems too watery and whatever cap you used it always seemed to run hideously. eskimo
Packaging. Pretty dull, but i'm unhappy if i bike a buy bike part and it doesn't come in the official box and in perfect condition. I've also made sure if a friend buys something, i'll have the box. Few years ago down Coop as it was then had a carboard recycle bin, often overflowed. Found some old Flybikes boxes that my mates mum had chucked there, soon had them away. Bit mashed up, but cut some of them apart and stuck the artwork to my wall. Still there now.I've also turned a few fork boxes into media storage boxes. I've now realised i've been collecting stickers for 10 years as well. And why do i have a collection of PSone games? I've a picture i took not long back. No idea why, but kinda handy now. Dukenukem & C&C boxes for receipts, oh year i collect bike part receipts, 2 fork boxes, i've now 4. And ignore the cash lying about It seems i've almost as many riding DVDs as i do film ones (hidden away).

Jitters
I kinda laughed when I saw this thread. Always thought collecting stuff was pointless. But, apparently, I do have a collection of things in my little workshop that I never really noticed until today.Must have 1,000 pounds of assorted hardware. Bolts of varying lengths, sizes, threads, materials. Washers, nuts, assorted engine brackets, rivets. I must have 15 big cans of stuff like that along with two tool boxes with overflowing hardware that "I'm sure I'm gonna use someday."So, I guess I'm in the club, although it's not really weird crap. Endohopper
Some cool collections ! I'm gonna have to find a larger book case for my collection of Occult related books . Well over 130 books by now concerning anything pertaining to witchcraft , Demonology ,Satanism and black magick including some fiendishly hard to find editions by Crowley , Montague Summers , Cassiel et al . * is not a creepy reclusive weirdo whose soul burns with a yearning to unleash the Elder Blood Gods whose pestilential reign will damn mankind to eternal torment *
Muel
Looks like I've started collecting trials bikes since this thread started, even though I hardly ride now. I've just sold one bike, still got two and almost a complete one in bits.
