theone2be
Right got a sky wirless router from sky when we signed up for wirless but we are only connecting it to the main computer through a cable, but i want to connect to the laptop through wirless but it dosnt have it built in so im guessing im going to have to buy a usb wirless adaptor for it. but which one do i buy? I have been told it has to be the same make as the router. The router is a netgear one. What do i need? Thanks for all your helpSam
Ben Cox
doesnt have to be the same as make, thats bullshit! just get a wireless card, it should slot in then install the drivers that come with it..Ben Edited February 9, 2008 by Cletus Del Roy Spuckler
Barbra
Just make sure its got the same number thing, i'm not sure what the number thing is hence why i'm calling it the number thing. (it'll tell you in the book that came with all the router and stuff)But its something like 801.11g or something like that basically it has to match up. I got buffalo wireless one cos it was the cheapest, and it works fantastic i can't fault it.
Ben Cox
most wireless addaptoprs have 801.11g and 801.11b capability anyway
Tomm
It doesn't have to match up. Just make sure that the card you get says 'wireless G' or 802.11g or 54G on it somewhere. Though I'd be very surprised if you could even find a 'b' card anywhere these days. N stuff is more expensive and buying that will be pointless since you router won't be N-capable.It's probably better to spend a few quid extra and get one from a reputable name. Buying the cheapest one might lead to annoying troubles (connections dropping etc).
