Captain Scarlet
I haven't voted, as I haven't run an Isis BB myself, only on friends bikes.I'm currently running a square taper BB, my 3rd one, brand new yesterday and already its clicking.Square taper is cheaper, but less variety of components.Isis is expensive, but more variety of components, and due to the quality of the components it generates as cheaper to buy an Isis BB that will last, rather than buying cheap Square taper BB's that often need replacing. Andeee
I dont know how you guys can wear off sqaure tapers etc. Ive greased the shell threads, bottom bracket bolts and even the tapers just to make it all secure. Sqaure taper *** If your original and old school

Haven't yet got round to buying the cranks for my new bike so this topic caame at the right time!
montyrider
ISIS all the way especialy skf....managed to fit a front freewheel with bash on mine to very simple! just machine down the large spacer to as close to bb shell as you dare go the cut and fit an old try-all bb spacer in their you know the green ones! Thought i'd add that as someone may like to know works a treat

Tomm
Isis is expensive, but more variety of components, and due to the quality of the components it generates as cheaper to buy an Isis BB that will last, rather than buying cheap Square taper BB's that often need replacing. That's rubbish. Square taper BBs almost NEVER need replacing whilst a lot of people need to change their ISIS BBs every six months. Like everyone's said it's because ISIS use really small bearings. There's no denying that the splines are better on ISIS BBs, they're probably stronger too, but the bearings are much worse so it's a toss up really. I'd probably go ISIS if I was buying again (for stiffness and because it's impossible to round off) but I'm still on square taper Middleburns now and there's no point upgrading. Krisboats
Had the same truvativ isis bottom bracket for ages now, well over a year and it was second hand when i got it. Not had any problems with it aside from creaking after its been used in the rain... nothing a bit of oil/grease doesn't fix.Had problems with squares rounding off and when i snapped my last one i just went isis and never looked back. totaltrials
I ran Middleburns with square taper for about 2 years, never rounded or creaked, perfect. Although some cranks are pretty cheese like and round off, still if you check them all time they should be ok, but my middleburns never rounded off.I'm running isis now, not even the slightest problem with them, and they are easier to extract too, but that's not exactly a big issue. Muel
I've run both, Square is heavy, weak, and slightly cheaper.ISIS is lighter, stringer and a better choice in the long run.People who say it's "much" more expensive, £20 or sliced legs/broken ankles? Matthew_Gibson
ISIS!Moved from Square taper to ISIS almost 2 years ago. after gapping onto my cranks. and rounding them off. (bent the cranks too) SO I up graded to a cheap ISIS bb and a middleburn crank set. Still runnig the same cranks to this day!!!!
