Echo Lite 08

Muel

Recommended Posts

Very nice bike but i think you,ve gone just a bit mad on the weight losing side of things.

not too keen on the forks, i think it would look nice with a pair of lites and also,

put on a bashplate/ring or you could risk breaking chain or freewheel.

Muels trying to beat tarty adam with the weight, theres alot more coming ;) He's got some other forks, what ive worked out is he is going to make it as light as possible (these forks are ovusaly lighter) then he has braggin rights over adam, so he will put the echo forks on and keep the carbon ones nice.

No I'm not.

I have made a list of stuff that I know would make it lighter, it would bring it down to 8.3kg, but it would cost £400.

So I can't be arsed.

All TI/Ally bolts - £132. -90g

New headset - £30 - 61g (if starnut and cap removed afterwards).

New BB - £60 - 20g.

New front tube, bmx ultralight thing - £10 - 44g

New rear tube, monty - £7-10 - 28g.

Ally nipples. £20 - 37g.

Hope carbon blades. £56 - 40g

Rotors - £60 - 24g

Chain, £14 - 104g

Grips - £6 - 50g

Tartyadamise the frame: (estimated)

Bash Mounts Off - 22g

Head Tube Hole - 25g

Drilled For Internal Hose Routing - 15g

Bigger Holes In Drop Outs And Open Up All The Breathe Holes In The BB Shell, Headtube - 15g

Total Saving To Frame - 77g

Total Saving With Other Stuff - 575g

new bike weight - 8296g

Money cost - £398

Who knows if that is all true, I won't be finding out as my bike is light enough by far.

I'd rather have £400.

absolutely nothing wrong with those forks, i should know!i used them in my last vid i done.

craig

I didn't know you did a vid Craig, fancy linking me up? :P

I'm putting the Echo forks back on today everyone, I want to keep the carbons looking nice, so comment about the bike, not the forks. They are very strong and I think they look the dogs bollocks, so please stop knocking them, thanks.

 Maybe, it'd light enough already, I just put the echo forks on and they are better for front wheel moves and gaps, as they have a longer steerer but shorter leg's so the bb is slightly lower and the head angle is a bit steeper, and when you stamp on the pedals before a big gap the front wheel doesn't hit you in the face.

But for compy/rocky/hoppy type stuff, the carbons own.

It's probably 9kg now, if I tried to do all the stuff you said, things would start breaking, but thanks, there are some very good ideas in there which I hadn't heard/thought about before, which I have highlighted. (Y)

The reason I havn't done anything else is I have no need, and don't really want to, I need to save for my motorbike test, so there will only be minor changes for this comp season.

Maybe big changes for next season... ;)

You have out done your self yet again mannn.......i love ur steeds :)

Thanks dude.

Pah, Obviously!. Now gimmie your forks!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! :P

Oh yeh, it was the website that made the review. Errrm, nah, but you can have a go if I ever decide that these Tyke comps are the way to go, YMSA ***!. :P

Its shit because of the back brake :P

It's good because of the back brake, it doesn't have one of those screamo things. I like to pull my brake and stop. Not stop, with my brake going, EEEEWWWf**kINGEEERRRRAER!!!!!!!

What rotors are those, Monty ones?

It just so happens I have two sat in my bedroom...

Only a 24g weight saving, and they don't ride as nice as the standard ones IMO.

I could get a lot more grams to the pound for doing stuff like, grips. £5 for 50g. (Rotors, £60 for 24g, in other words, £2.50 a gram.)
