I have just recieved a e-mail today off deng just some questions i asked and heres some replys he put:

Ok, Andrew, let me answer these questions for you:

The tire for 20" bikes are still available by us, but without our mark. Because these tires are not design or make by us. We just selling these tires. The 26" stop because it's not good at all. It has 2.5" marks but it's a 2.25 tire, and it's too low so it's very easy to be flat. We are selling the Kenda tires now, without our logo too, it's design and make by Kenda. It's not bad. Make a tire is very cost. But trials market is not big, and different riders wants different tires. We can make different frames and forks, but it's impossible to make different tires for such market. So we just do some trading things, sell some tires which ok for trials.

The bars design has never change from 2002 till now. So I don't understand why people keep telling me the old bar and the new bar. I check the bars myself very carefully, I don't see any different.

The 2005 rims with square CNC cutting is too narrow for trials. But if you just want different and don't care about the size, maybe you will like it. I will think about this. But personally, I think 38mm for trials is just too small.

I don't want to telling the new frames. But I can tell you in the coming 2 months we wouldn't release new frames.

We are selling the square taper VP BB in 128mm now, we have doing this for 3 years. As I know most good cranks available in ISIS. Why people need square taper BB? The ISIS is much better, square taper design is not good enough for trials.

Wow Deng actually replied:

Before the frames available, I really can't tell anything about it. Please understand.

The tires we are selling is the same as ECHO SUPA TRIALS tires. Same mould same rubber. Not any different. We stop making the tires by our brand but just selling it as treading because we really don't know what tire people really wants. someone like light tires, someone like heavy but thick side walls, someone like really fat tires, someone like the narrow for quick rebound. Someone like soft for grip, someone like hard rubber for stronger side wall and quick rebound. Different hardness, different size, different thickness. But we just can offer only one model tires in 2 size. In fact, no matter what tire we offer, there will be some one like it and more people dislike it.

The rims in 38mm is too narrow for trials. in wider size, you have to drill it, CNC is not light enough. The drilling rims we make still too heavy for some riders.

Thank you for your support!

Deng

^got that email this morning. Looks like he's keeping Zoo! and Adamant 2008 quiet for the time being.

It's good to see more riders having a hand on shaping the new products out there! The futures' bright :) Some of the recent developments for products have sparked me off to having a more creative period of design during Jan. Innovation is contagious!

The CNCed Vee idea has been suggested and is a good one! Mostly I've been carefully picking products to release where there is no or only one rival which I think can be improved on. I'm starting to see other approaches now though as the climate is evolving. It's actually good for the smaller firm when one company develops a monopoly because then riders are looking harder for those products with a different touch to stand out from the crowd.

Steve

ill bet if you made cnc vee calipers, every single trials rider who ran vees would snap up a pair, purley on the basis there made by a trials company, the only rival is the avid ultimates.

I'd consider it for sure, but they'd have to be something special to sway me from my Ultimates!

What would be nice is a couple of differently shaped springs for ultimates (or a rival brake if one was to be produced to allow more options with spring tension.

For example, if the springs on my ultimate were not so 'rounded' at the base (they probably bend 200 degrees or so) they may have more tension in them to allow me to set them up more as I want.

Hard to explain, I'll try again sometime perhaps, if I haven't found the resources to make them by then ;)
