Bb Went On A Pub Crawl Now Wonky

ok i was in the middle of building my ninja up for the london ride, only problem is where one of the bb cups (non drive side) has came out and when looking at the bb straight on you can see that the bb is now at a angle and i cannot fit in the cup also with the bb cup the thread does not go right to the end theres a gap of about 2mm so my guess is that i have to pop the cup in and then tighten it

any ideas of how to get this cup in cheers rick

take the entire BB out and start again.

I always put the non-drive side in a few turns then put the drive side/main bb body in. this way the non drive side cup keeps the BB going in straight but doesn't stop it going in all the way. If that makes sense. Once the main bodys in fully then tighten up the non-drive side all the way. Jobs a goodun.

Full stops, jeeees!

I don't really understand, owing to the way the text just flows there, like a sea, roaring along, small children swimming happily, enjoying themselves... Do you mean the whole cup is angled? Or just the axle? Have you accidentally rethreaded the BB shell at an angle? Is it a new BB?

the axle is wonky. its a fsa platinum DH bb its longer than the average bb as well. the bb was put in around easter 07 and never been touched after that

So the Axle is wonky but the BB shell is okay and it's screwed in on the driveside okay, you just cant get the non driveside cup in? I can't see why the axle would be wonky if you've screwed the shell in correctly, which sort of screams out that you haven't screwed the shell in properly.

I would say I'd do it for you man but unfortunatly I'm at work all the way up to the london ride. How are you planning on getting a working rear brake with your dodgy mounts? Any way good luck man, if you can't get it working ill lash you my video cam :)

ok just went to my lbs and he gave me the tool i took the bb completely out, then done up the non drive side slightly and then the drive side only problem is i could not both cups completely in due to the tightness and the cups rounding off any suggestions, i have tried to put the cranks on but as the cups are not fully in the cranks are tight to turn and not enough thread with the bolt to keep them tight.

Doesn't sound like there's anything wrong with the BB other than you rounding off the edges. And that would pretty much make it unusable unless you make some funky home made non-IS fitting. It just needs to go in tight, it's meant to be tight as it has to be completely still in the shell, think of it like fitting a pressed headset but with thread, thats how tight it should be.

both cups are tight but theres stil thread out side the frame and i didnt wanna brake the tool as its not mine looking at it though imo the non drive side cup is more out than the drive side, so if i can get that in a little bit more than i can run it as i only wanna go london and hopefully be getting a new frame and bb

Yeah, the plastic cup needs to go in, as that can hang over the axle so you can't put on a crankarm, get that plastic cup in! The bike shop tool would probably have been made of steel, and your BB, some alloy; BB would probably break first anyway.

what width is you actuall bb shell 68 or 73mm? and what was the make and model of the bb?

if its a 68 mm shell and its an fsa bb its probs because its a multi size bb and your missing the spacer so it'll fit a 68mm shell, that would explain the 2mm or of thread showing and why it wouldnt go in all the way.
