JoeM
If you have a vice then get two pieces of wood and clamp them on the cog then turn the wheel what ever way is off?

cai
Bierspool did mine for free nath, or you could vice a bike chain around the cog and turn the wheel. Are you finally getting a new hub? or are you going rear freewheel?

Jake
Hold up, is it fixed? If so, take off the lockring (if it has one) by hitting the notches with a screwdriver and hammer setup CLOCKWISE (or a tool). The lockring has a reverse thread on it. Then, get a chainwhip, or an old chain and some old cranks with a ring on it, wrap the chain around the cog and turn it anticlockwise. It should be tight, really tight, so keep going.
