Chappie
Hi, Im needing a new freewheel for my t-pro because the last one just split! Its an 18t one going on to a standard onza square taper bb. Any recomendations bearing in mind that im not that good on it, haha! The ACS claws one from tarty bikes any good, or should i go all out on something more ££ ?Chappie
Shaun H
ACS Claws are ok, but I would advise getting something a bit better if you can afford it. ENOs are arguably the best freewheel out there, but most people cope fine with a Tensile.
Muel
Was it one of the Tensiles? There has been a few of the newer ones go, mine has been fine but it's an older one.Did it come on the bike, and is it an 07?

The bikes a 2000 model. Not really fancying spending £50 on a freewheel at the moment like!

Muel
Get a second hand Tensile off here for next to nothing, it's the best way to go.
Chappie
Get a second hand Tensile off here for next to nothing, it's the best way to go.Cheers man! I might try that! tmks88
ive used ACS (2 months until it exploded)tryall (7 months then something from inside went wrong it gets stuck all the time...havent opened it yet)and now ENO trials since may 2007 and its the best one so far...if you clean it once in 2 months it never skips!so get an ENO! Al_Fel
ACS's are pretty good to be fair they arnt the greatest though. An ACS will be fine for a good few months and they are really cheap. Just keep an eye on the lockring because if that goes then you are buggered. Also have fun getting the thing off the cranks it can be a right bugger if you haven't got a vice and the proper tool. belaey
I rode a monty freewheel for months and there was no problem at all but now im riding the golden Viz one for 6months and i never cleaned it and its still working very good,So if you want a freewheel that is long lasting? you should take the Viz or the Monty freewheel.Good luckwes

Token
They use to put the Dicta freewheels on the older model Onzas. So anything you buy will be an improvement, they are the worst freewheel ever to be made.

ENO, does sound very tempting, but for half the price is it better off getting the tensile bearing in mind im not great at trials (although i guess im prob harder on the bike haha)?Chap

Captain Scarlet
They use to put the Dicta freewheels on the older model Onzas. So anything you buy will be an improvement, they are the worst freewheel ever to be made.I thought it was dicta freewheels on the rear freewheel bikes, and ACS on the front freewheel?I've tried a few freewheels myself, and I can say that the eno is easily my favourite, but the Tensile is damn hot contender (the BB removal tool is much better than the freewheel type on the eno, which is hardly deep enough at all).Tensiles are easily best value for money, and are serviceable (so as soon as your freewheel makes horrible noises, its not the end of the world). My Try-all is amazingly good, I've had it for 3 months now and it feels much more solid and less likely to skip than my Eno (in fact my Try-all hasn't skipped yet). And lastly the Eno, it has an expense to it, mine skipped every now and again but I did get it second hand, but very easy to service and maintain, I just decided to change to a Try-all because I stripped the centre piece of it (worked out cheaper for a new freewheel). If you don't want to spend a lot, go for the Tensile. If you want a freewheel that lasts go for the Eno.If you want a freewheel that works well but is not able to be serviced, go for the Try-all. Simpson
If you clean it once in 2 months it never skips!had my Eno a year, Elding once blew it apart and some pawls and stuff fell out, found as many of em as i could wacked em all back in... had no problem since! think it has 3 pawls or something? i dont know! hahaha but still works mint never skips unless the lockring falls off! But yea, guess I've just been lucky!
1337 Trials
Tensile free-wheels are awsome value for money (I have one )
Paul@Deltabikes
I will voice what has pretty much already been said and vote for the White Industries ENO. Expensive but worth it in my opinion.Paul
Matthew_Gibson
I have only ridden on a Tensile and a Try-all. I'd go for Tensile every time. there really cheap too. The Engagement are really noticable, and its nice and loud. Where as The try all was quite, and felt like it was goiing to skip all the time. that was only a 5 min ride! Chappie
ENO's easy to maintain/service as im thinking of a second hand one, if i get it at the right price?!Cheers
Token
I thought it was dicta freewheels on the rear freewheel bikes, and ACS on the front freewheel? They use to put the Dictas on the front aswell, they were quite fun to ride with, because I could never tell when it'd spontaniously exploded, shooting ball bearings everywhere while locking the rear wheel up an throwing your testicles into the stem. Real good memories. If you don't want to spend a lot, go for the Tensile. If you want a freewheel that lasts go for the Eno. - ForeverIf you want a freewheel that works well but is not able to be serviced, go for the Try-all.Definitely avoid the Try-All, there are people who have had good experiences with them, but it's not really worth the risk of getting one that makes your break your face when you gap. So it's between the Eno or the Tensile.
