Joe Sheehan!
carbons gay...
matt middler
carbons gay...What reasons do you have for calling it gay? There is nothing wrong with it, its just another material or method of saving weight. We drill rims to save weight, Thats not GAY!!Carbon fibre is very strong, if it wasnt then it would not be used.
Zordon
yes pretty much(its for my xc bike) lol i might just get a cheap one thats some one is selling as that would make more sense and save money but .....CARBON IS AWESOME lol and i want my bike to be lighter than my brothers lolEver tried to use full stops instead? It's faster. There is quite a few bits where carbon can be used - chain tensioners, boosters, bb shells, front hub shells maybe. But CF is only another step of materials engineering, I'm waiting for the nanotechnology, especially nanopipes which look promising

casualjoe
http://www.eastonbike.com/PRODUCTS/BARS/08...dh_'08.html.Some lovly nanotubing in these bars, they are a little bit pricey for most though
Muel
I have carbon forks, headset spacers, and my stem is carbon effect.Possibly carbon lever blades one day, but £28 each? I would need 2, and I don't think it's wise. Edited January 29, 2008 by El Muelio
craigjames
those easton bars are brilliant, supposedly stronger than the ea70 alu bars and the havoc alu bars.easton carbon stuff doesnt look as fancy because its not got the nice fancy weave over the top, but its the best stuff available. Daffy04
those easton bars a soooooo nice if i rode down hill i would buy them even though they are a trillion pound lol

Zordon
Carbon nanotube Wikipedia"Carbon nanotubes are the strongest and stiffest materials on earth, in terms of tensile strength and elastic modulus respectively. This strength results from the covalent sp² bonds formed between the individual carbon atoms. In 2000, a multi-walled carbon nanotube was tested to have a tensile strength of 63 GPa. Since carbon nanotubes have a low density for a solid of 1.3-1.4 g/cm³,[17] its specific strength of up to 48,000 kN·m/kg is the best of known materials, compared to high-carbon steel's 154 kN·m/kg."
