Disc Brake Pad Compounds

hiya everyone

I was just looking on Trials-uk and tarty bikes and a few others

and when you have a disc brake you have one pad to fit your calliper where when you have a rim brake you have a reallly big range of pads

so if you have a maggie you have pads for grinds and tar and smooth rim

but there is just one standard pad for a disc and there is nothing else just bog standard

i know you wont grind a disc or put tar on it that's stupid

i was just wondering why there has only and ever been the bog standard pad for discs

all comments would be appreciated

thanks dec

There is a small margin of pads out there, but the power you get from the bog standard jobbys is very good. You also find the wear life is 'mazin on them too.

As for the magura pads, Companys have just tryed difforent compounds for difforent rim surfaces and weather conditions.

Most cable disk breaks have 1 pad and most hydrolic ones have 2. :)

Actually most have 2 pads but only one actuates (Y)

I think the reason why, Is because theres no need ! Disc brakes are so great because they work in all weather. And as said before...Because there already spot on (Y)
